We are simply stewards of the gift. The calling, the gift, the talent. These are all differ- ent ways the Bible speaks of things that have been entrust- ed to us. We have a responsi- bility to use what God has giv- en to us and to operate from it. It's easy to get possessive of the calling, gift, talent, but we must remember that they do not belong to us. This is a sobering message from Luke 12:37,40 -44. I know I skipped a few vers- es in that one, but the main message I want to bring out here is that we have been giv- en stewardship over some- thing that doesn't belong to us. It is not our right to simply turn and make decisions with such gifts and callings with- out first consulting the mas- ter that gave them to us. God's main requirement of stewards is faithfulness. Read 1 Corinthians 4:2 and Matthew 25:21. So, let's make a decision to- day to be faithful in the things and with the things that have been committed to us. It will be worth it in the end! God Speaks to Man Have you ever had difficul- ty in making yourself under- stood by a young child? Just try answering some of his questions: "What's the sky made of? Why did Grandma have to die? Where did God come from? " It can be quite a problem. The difference between your mental ability and the child's is not as great as that between the mental ability of God, the Creator, and you, His creature. What meth- od did He use to communi- cate with man? Did He send a great cataclysm of nature to awe us into submission? No, He sent a little Baby to be born in Bethlehem. Of course, babies are born ev- ery day, but this was a very special Baby. He was God in the flesh. Bob Shepherd, Reporter RUMBLETOWN FREE METHODIST CHURCH Adult Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; Sunday morning wor- ship 10 :30 a.m.; Tuesday Bi- ble study 6:30 p.m. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalms 33:12a, NIV ). To- morrow, we remember those who have served in our Armed Forces. They are the blessing that has kept our country free. In our freedom, we should be a blessing to our God. We invite you to bless God with your presence at a church of your choosing. As always, we invite you to Rumbletown this and every Sunday. The Rumbletown Church is located four miles south of Pe- tersburg on State Road 57. Jim Harrell, Pastor PLEASANT RIDGE G.B. CHURCH Morning worship service 10 :30 a.m. Everyone is always welcome. We want to thank God for His mercy, love and answered prayer. Continue to pray for one another, the unsaved, the prayer list, for all who are trav- eling, for the sick and needy, for the ones in hospitals and nursing homes, for the mil- itary and their families, our President and his family, and all decisions that are made. If you need spiritual help or in- formation, call Dale or Terri at 812-789 -2348. Remember to pray for heal- ing for our divided country, and for protection for our ba- bies, our families, our jobs and our religious freedoms. We want to extend our sym- pathy to anyone who has lost a loved one. "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs. 22.6). You can't replace a Moth- er or Father's love. Love your children unconditionally. A child feels angry and frus- trated when his parents do not show him love. If you do not train them before they leave home, they are not prepared for life. They need quality time with parents...not a maid or baby- sitter. Listen to them so they will listen to you when it's im- portant. No special educa- tion is required; no college degrees are needed to teach your children. Give them un- divided attention and admit when you're wrong. It is in the home that the child learns the basic princi- ple of accountability for ac- tions; first to those around him and ultimately to God. Remember: Your care and teaching is an investment in their future and eternity. Kids have needs, dreams and goals. They need people to believe in them. Thought: Bless all parents, God. Give them strength and love and patience. Use them to Your glory. Amen. Through prayer we can move moun- tains. Have a great week. Remem- ber to thank our veterans for their service. We pray all those suffering in any way may be made whole and feel even great- er than they did before. Our soup supper will be this Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. at the fellowship hall. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, nei- ther let it be afraid" ( John 14:27).
