Truth be told, not all of those shows turn out to be as good as the networks hope, and many get canned in short order. Truth be told, if there's one show you should check out this fall, it's "Truth Be Told," premiering Fri- day, Oct. 16, on NBC. The semi-autobiographical sitcom hails from the mind of DJ Nash, known for another NBC semi-autobiographical sitcom called "Growing Up Fisher." The new series tells the story of two married couples who are all best friends and all speak their minds, no matter the topic (es- pecially if it's a topic that's typi- cally avoided on TV). That's not to say that "Truth Be Told" will be outright raunchy and disrespectful, or better suited for HBO. Nash's goal for the series is to make viewers at home really think about some of today's press- ing topics — especially the ones that no one wants to talk about. "I think we really want to ruf- fle feathers," Nash said at the Television Critics Association press tour in August. "If there is not a point in every episode where we're uncomfortable, then we're not telling the right story. Very little in life is black and white. ... And I want to have those topics where we're all not always on the same page, and I want to push it. So I think there are certain limits that we put on ourselves." Helping Nash ruffle some feathers on screen is a cast of characters with quite a few fun- ny, familiar faces. Starring as married couple Mitch and Tracy are Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Vanessa Lachey. Gosselaar was catapulted to fame in the '90s when he starred as the charm- ing Zack Morris in the now clas- sic comedy "Saved by the Bell" and, until recently, starred in Bravo's "Franklin & Bash." Lachey is a former fashion mod- el and Miss Teen USA winner who got her start in the televi- sion world in "The Bold and the Beautiful." Most recently, she appeared in the short-lived Fox series "Dads." The other married couple, newlyweds Russell and Angie, live right next door to Mitch and Tracy, and the couples visit each other frequently. Stand-up co- median Tone Bell plays Russell, who is also a stand-up comic. Bell appeared in season 2 of the Feature this week
