2 • Milwaukee County Post • September 4, 2015 MILWAUKEE — Public input is being sought as the Milwaukee Police Department seeks accreditation. A team of assessors from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group will arrive Sept. 28 to examine all aspects of the Police Department's policy and procedures, management, operation and support serv- ice, Chief Edward Flynn announced Tuesday. "Verification by the team that the Milwaukee Police Department meets the board's state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation — a highly prized recognition of law enforce- ment professional excellence," Flynn said in a statement. As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community can offer comments at 5 p.m. Sept. 30 in Room 301B of Milwaukee City Hall, 200 E. Wells St. The public may also call 414-935-3955 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30. The public and telephone comments are limited to three minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with WILEAG's standards. A copy of the stan- dards is available online at www.city.mil- waukee.gov/police under the "About MPD" tab. The department contact for more infor- mation is Sgt. Rebecca Babich at 414-935- 3835. Comments may also be sent to WILEAG, P.O. Box 270693, Milwaukee, WI 53227 or email wileag@sbcglobal.net. The MPD is required to comply with 235 standards in order to gain accredited sta- tus. Deputy Inspector Paul Felician, accred- itation manager for the Milwaukee police, said, "The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies. The assessors will review written material, interview individuals, and visit offices and places where compliance can be witnessed." MILWAUKEE — He may not play on the field this season, but Jordy Nelson is playing a starring role for Wisconsin tourism. The Green Bay Packers wide receiver will once again be in the fall Wisconsin Department of Tourism TV commercial. The ad, which originally aired in 2013, pays homage to "The Wizard of Oz" and showcases Wisconsin's colorful, fall beau- ty through the point of view of Nelson. The opening scene of the ad captures Nelson's Kansas farming roots with a shot of he and his wife tossing a football. "Jordy epitomizes the Wisconsin work ethic," tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett said in a statement. "He brings warmth and the Wisconsin brand of fun to this commercial and we're thrilled to bring it back for another season. "Jordy was an absolute delight to work with during the filming, despite the cold and rainy weather he endured. He was a great sport." The 90-second commercial, which invites people to experience fall in Wisconsin, received positive response and generated nearly 275,000 views on YouTube since its release. The ad will begin airing Sept. 13 and will run throughout Wisconsin, Chicago and Minneapolis-St. Paul.
