BROOKFIELD — Ed Harder, a Brookfield resi- dent and U.S. Navy Reservist, is competing for the Leukemia & Lym- phoma Society's "Man of the Year" award. Harder, who has served in the Navy since 1995, hopes to raise $25,000 in his campaign for the honorary title. He is competing against nine other Milwau- kee-area candidates. Harder, a financial repre- sentative with Northwest- ern Mutual, became a Navy Reservist in 2010 after 15 years of active duty. Every dollar donated to Harder for his "Man of the Year" campaign counts as a vote. All donations are tax- d e d u c t i b l e , and greatly help the fight against blood c a n c e r s . A d v a n c e - ments in research and t r e a t m e n t , supported by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, have added to the life spans of countless blood cancer patients. Many LLS-supported thera- pies also treat patients suf- fering from several other forms of cancer. Donations to Harder's campaign can be made at http://www.thedollardiffer- ence.org.
