January 2012 My Two Cents by Jim Koury, Editor Welcome to the Janaury 2012 issue of Diversity Rules Magazine! I am re- ally honored to present Diversity Rules readers to Imani The Misift, the fea- ture cover interview. Shelly's publication, "Connexions." I checked him and his YouTube website out and said, "I want him to be on the cover of Diversity Rules." I asked him if he would be willing to be the feature and agreed but asked if I would be willing to cover him in an unedited way. I replied, "of course, you are you and that's all there is to it." Imani is a black, bisexual rapper from Mary- land, who also does nude modeling and some porn. How much more diverse can you get! Yes I am sure there will be some who do not like Imani and his message, but hey, as Aristo- tle said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accept- ing it." While some of Imani's statements and YouTube videos may seem radical and off the wall to some, it is his uniqueness, and individu- alism, and his "I just don't give a fuck" attitude that attacted me to him. I guess he reminds me of yours truly in a way! I encouage you to check out Imani's interview, find out more about him and listen to some of his YouTube videos with an open mind. He reached out to me on Twitter and told me he was featured in my friend what you wish and leave behind that which you don't like. It's that simple really! Imani embraces the concept of "misfitism." It is "a social ideology that stresses the idea that each individual should embrace everything un- usual, creative and bizarre about themselves and display it proudly in their society." I find this to be the true essence of what Diversity Rules is all about and what it embodies. Misfit- ism is a philosophy toward life that everyone should practice since it is one's individuality that defines them. Why not express that indi- viduality proudly, without reservation and live life to the fullest as one's true self. There is no better philosophy to live by; something I have been preaching for many years! I'd love to hear your feedback on Imaini's in- terview. Feel free to contact him directly with your comments or me and I shall see he gets the feedback. Imani also has a Facebook page and you can find it just by typing in "Imani Lee Jones" in the search box. I hope you enjoy the rest of the January issue. There are the usual favorites, such as Terry Ludwig's, "Keep Up Now" and Lee Lynch's "Amazon Trail," which by the way is Xmas ori- ented but hey, it's still a great read! As usual there are a lot of new features and articles of interest. I am also planning some things that will hope- fully catapult Diversity Rules back into print form! Sit tight and I'll keep you posted. For now enjoy the issue, enjoy your lives and like Imani, embrace your "misfitism."
