By Matt Masterson Freeman Staff NEW BERLIN — A new, full-service emergency med- ical department addition appears to be in the works for the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Moor- land Reserve Health Center in New Berlin. In an email to The Free- man, Froedtert Media Rela- tions Director Kathleen Sieja said the proposed 15,000-square-foot renova- tion onto the existing 137,000-square-foot medical office building is still await- ing approvals from the state. The New Berlin Plan Com- mission took up the matter earlier this month. If the plan goes through, she expects to break ground in spring 2015 with a target- ed completion in fall 2016. "Moorland Reserve Health Center opened last October, and overall response, including urgent care visits, has exceeded our expecta- tions," she said. "Also, the emergency department at Froedtert Hospital sees many patients from the New Berlin area, so that factored into our decision to build." Earlier this month, build- ing material samples and colored renderings were reviewed by New Berlin's Architectural Review Com- mittee, which also dis- cussed the idea for a possi- ble future addition in con- junction with the current planned addition before issuing an unanimous approval. Sieja said a full-service emergency department at Moorland Reserve would offer New Berlin locals and residents from the sur- rounding area convenient, around-the-clock access to care. The existing facility cur- rently staffs 77 physicians and 106 clinical and support personnel, according to the plan of operation, while 23 more physicians and sup- port personnel are expected to be hired following com- pletion of the addition. The emergency medical department portion is planned to run 24 hours per day, seven days per week with a majority of patients expected between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Currently the Health Cen- ter offers primary and urgent care in addition to specialty care services including cardiology, can- cer, dermatology, eye, gas- troenterology and urology. www.froedtert.com Email: mmasterson@conleynet.com DECEMBER 2014 Freeman Brookfield & Elm Grove/Page 5A 2 3 5 9 2 5 0 0 1 WAU K E S H A C I V I C TH E AT R E 264 West Main Street • Waukesha (262) 547-0708 www.waukeshacivictheatre.org Give the gift of theatre this holiday season with a Give the gift of theatre this holiday season with a Fabulous Flex Four For $56!
