The same formula can hold true for those who need to buy a gift for a woman. "I think the first question is what color does she like?" Laura Karvala said. Karvala is an owner of JLK Outlet, locat- ed at 15160 W. Library Lane in the New Berlin City Center. "What does she like to wear? We're not only talking about clothes — I would suggest accessories to go with that as well." Karvala said a top is always a good idea. If clothes don't hit the mark then jewelry is always an option. Karvala's store, which opened earlier this year and is celebrating its first Christmas, carries tops, slacks, bags, socks, jewelry and more. Knowing even a basic idea of how one's wife typically dress- es is a big help, Karvala said, and a lot of shopping can be done by simply looking at items and trying to picture them on one's beloved. If all else fails and one is unaware of their wife's size, eyeball it and save the receipt. Other ideas Buying clothes, while a ter- rific idea, might not be the best solution. Perhaps the thought of shopping for clothes makes you cringe. If that is the case there are still plenty of options for the last name on your Christmas shopping list. Jayne Lynch is the special events/public relations man- ager for Bon Ton Stores, Inc., which is located in Milwaukee and is the parent company of Boston Store. Locally, Boston Store is in Brookfield Square and Mayfair Mall. Lynch suggested simple items with near universal appeal. Most everyone wears a scent — consider the person's perfume or cologne of choice. Most everyone favors a sports team — buy clothing or acces- sories bedecked with that team's logo or mascot. Coffee, chocolates and pop- corn always make great gifts, and likely merit a holiday arti- cle of their own. "It's always safe to select items where sizing doesn't matter, like handbags, wallets, watches, scarves, throws or a phone charger," Lynch said. "If you can't decide on a gift a gift card is always a great option for them to be able to select something for them- selves." Charles Auer/Freeman Staff Allen Sande of the Germantown American Legion Post 1 rings the bell for the Salvation Army in Brookfield Square Mall on Black Friday. This was Sande's 11th year of bell ringing.
