Services were held at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church. Burial fol- lowed in the church cem- etery. Mrs. Scoggins was pre- ceded in death by her hus- band, Rev. Forrest Scoggins; and her parents, L.Z. and Nina Mae Bell Dobbins. She is survived by one son, Chip Scoggins and wife Denise of Gaffney; two daughters, Loretta Winters and husband Rick of Forest City and Elora White and hus- band Terry of Rutherfordton; one brother, Roger Dobbins of Shelby; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchil- dren. McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home, Cliffside, NC is serving the family. TRACY RANDY TACKETT Tracy Randy Tackett, 61 of Lincolnton, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011. A private graveside service was held at Tackett Family Cemetery. Mr. Tackett was preced- ed in death by his parents, Rossie "Red" Elisha Tackett and Mildred Martin Tackett. He is survived by a daughter, Julia Tackett of Charleston, West Virginia; two brothers, Rick Tackett of Florida and Rod Tackett of West Virginia; and three sisters, Pat Jones of Casar, Michell Bolinger of South Carolina and Kim Pressnall of Lawndale. Stamey Funeral Home of Fallston is serving the family. CHARLIE M. "CHUCK" SMITH Charlie M. "Chuck" Smith, Jr., 67, of Shelby, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2011. Services were held at Davidson Memorial Baptist Church. Burial was held in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors. Mr. Smith served our coun- try in the US Navy where he served in Vietnam, Korean Conflict, and was called to active duty for Desert Storm and to Norfolk, VA during 9/11. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Bonnie Greene Smith and his brother, Phillip Carlon. He is survived by his lov- ing wife of 43 years, Lillian Davis Smith, of the home; son, Ronnie Smith of Shelby; brother, George Franklin Smith and wife Denise of Boiling Springs; grandson, Jason Smith and wife Alisha of Fallson; three grand- daughters, Kari, Makayla, and Hannah Smith. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Mr. Houser served our country in the US Navy dur- ing WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Smith Houser; his parents Tola Houser and Della Mae Leatherman Houser; an infant daughter; one grand- daughter; six brothers and three sisters. He is survived by three daughters, Martha Sain, and husband Kenneth; Deborah Sigmon and hus- band, Danny, all of Vale and Krista DesRoches and hus- band, William of Mt. He was preceded in deathby his parents, Decatur Elmore and Lula Warlick Elmore; two brothers, Ira Elmore and Johnny Elmore; and four sisters, Ethel Hartigan, Verna Joyner, Mae Abernethy and Ruth Balentine. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Coye Peeler Elmore; son, Robert Michael Elmore and wife Kathy of Lawndale; two daughters, Linda Goforth and husband Richard of Shelby and Susan Mills and husband Hardee of Greensboro; sister Ann Falls of Irmo, SC; eight grandchil- dren and two great-grand- children.
