3 A FROM ROB LANGRELL The 2011 Las Vegas Top Tech Exec Awards special publication is a first of its kind in our region. It marks collaboration between Cox Business and VEGAS INC to recognize the most outstanding Information Technology executives in Southern Nevada. We fielded nominations in the months leading up to the publication. Then we asked our panel of five judges—read more about them on page 11A—to use the following criteria in reviewing them: ▶ Accomplishments: Examine why the candidate was nominated, and if the applications supports the nomination. Consider the candidate's specific individual role in the achievements for which they been cited. Consider the nominee's commitment to the industry as a whole. ▶ Technology Partnerships: Assessment of the nominee's ability to develop strategic relationships with vendors, solution providers and technology partners. Also consider projects that showcase the nominee's creativity and ingenuity in problem solving. ▶ Innovation and Vision of the Future: Consider the nominee's insight and ideas for the future and how it affects the technology industry as a whole. We recognize IT executives in seven categories, based on the type of industry and size of their respective company. We also honor two special individuals with the Cox Exemplary Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award. The award winners, as well as all of the nominees, were recognized at an event at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center inside the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Thanks for picking up this inaugural publication. We're thrilled to showcase the outstanding individuals in the exciting and ever-changing field of technology.
