Pabst issues statement on new ownership MILWAUKEE — Pabst Brewing Co. on Monday attempted to clarify "a number of inaccuracies" about its future ownership. The company released a statement that declared it would remain "an American iconic brand with its headquarters in the U.S." Media reports surfaced last week indi- cated the company, which originated in Milwaukee in the 1800s, was being pur- chased by a Russian beverage company. "The future owners of Pabst, Eugene Kashper, TSG Consumer Partners and Cyprus-based Oasis Beverages are deeply committed to Pabst's future as an American company," the statement said. The statement went on to describe Kashper as a U.S. citizen who immigrated to the United States from Russia at the age of 6. It called TSG Consumer Partners a "well-known U.S.-based strategic equity group" and described Oasis as a Cyprus- based beer and soft drink producer co- founded by Kashper. "We look forward to working with our new colleagues and to continuing our 170- year old tradition. PBR is a very strong brand with a rich heritage and authentic American values. Our new colleagues will remain vigilant in staying true to the brand's identity and will look to loyal customers for guidance," the statement concluded. Dental Associates to share patient ratings MILWAUKEE — Dental Associates is posting patient evaluations of its dentists and clinics on its website. Each dentist has a profile page on the company's site, DentalAssociates.com. Each profile features an overall five-point rating for the doctor. Along with the rat- ings, the profiles include a photo of the doctor, a brief background on education and a list of any professional associa- tions he or she is involved in. Currently, 10 of the 11 Dental Associates clinics are rated. Its newest dental center in downtown Milwaukee opened this July and will post results once enough data is collected. All Dental Associates patients with an email address are sent the survey. For those without emails, mailing addresses are selected at random and surveys are sent via mail. 14 • Milwaukee County Post • September 26, 2014 BUSINESS BY JOHN HOLMAN Special to The Post WAUKESHA — August home sales for the Milwaukee region, which comprises Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties, have fallen 4.9 percent from the same period last year, according to the Wisconsin Realtors Association's region- al report released on Monday. Meanwhile in Waukesha County, home prices stayed true to August 2013's $255,000 price point, and the real estate market reported 29 fewer homes sold than the 592 of last August, falling 4.9 percent. The Milwaukee region saw 1,814 homes sold last month, compared to 1,908 last August, while average prices improved 6.8 percent to $187,250 in the same period. The trends are representative of Wisconsin overall, which also reported a rise in price and a drop in sales: 3.3 and 5.7 per- cent, respectively. "Home sales continue to lag behind 2013, and while it's important to remember that 2013 was a strong year for sales, there are a number of other contributing factors that also explain relatively lower sales," said Steve Lane, chairman of the WRA board of directors, in the housing market report. He added that available inventories have influenced these changes: "Inventories are tighter in our metropoli- tan areas compared to rural areas, and some buyers may be having difficulty finding homes to buy in those markets," said Lane. The report noted that metropolitan coun- ties have 7.7 months of available inventory in August, and their sales were down 8.1 per- cent compared to the year before. Conversely, rural counties have 16.6 months of inventory, and their sales fell less than 0.2 percent. Price appreciation may also be contribut- ing to the weaker sales. Median prices in Wisconsin have grown by 9.8 percent since August 2012, more than 2.5 times greater than the growth in the general price level over that same period. "Even though Wisconsin housing remains very affordable in the state, some potential buyers may have gotten priced out of the market over the past year," said Lane. "Given that prices were going up so quick- ly in 2013, it's encouraging to see these settle down this year," said Michael Theo, WRA president and CEO, in the WRA's August press release. The year-to-date median price apprecia- tion is 2.4 percent, slightly higher than the rate of inflation, which has been between 1.1 and 2.1 percent so far in 2014. "This has kept our housing more afford- able than other parts of the country," said Theo. Home sales around Milwaukee fall 4.9 percent School Tours Tours are based on Wisc.
