FRIDAY NIGHT! ShelbyInfoRadio.com Belwood Mayor Debbie Hoyle was very pleased with the three day Annual Belwood Antique Tractor and Engine Festival, held this past weekend, September 4, 5 and 6. The event included many events and activities, including: their famous Antique Tractor Pull, held on Thursday and Saturday; a Lawnmower Pull on Friday; a Kids Tractor Pull on Saturday, as well as a Festival Parade with over 100 entries. Antiques were available for sale and and delicious food was served to those in attendance. The event seems to improve every year and represents what a small town can do when they come together. Lots of old-timey fun was had by everyone. Pictured right: Free rides were provided by Chad Blevins and Barbara Latimore. Their Belgian Draft Horses named Molly and Lady gave petting and riding time to everyone. This is another example of the Belwood com- munity spirit! All proceeds went to Belwood Antique Heritage Museum. 24th Annual Belwood Antique Tractor and Engine Festival Three Great Days of Community Fun in Belwood Scenes from the 50th Annual Shelby Kiwanis Pancake Supper (Above) Maxine Hembree and sister Joyce Derrick with her husband Randy enjoy the "all you can eat" ole timey pit cooked barbecue pork and chicken dinner at the annual Sandy Plains Baptist Church Barbecue. The ladies have been attending the barbecue for over 30 years and said "we just wouldn't miss it!" Both ladies both worked in the local livermush plants for 22 years. Randy said: "I'll probably be going back for some more barbecue". Rev. Garin Hill, Sandy Plains Pastor for the past six years, kept up with events in his golf cart. At the time we saw him, they had already sold 1,000 "to go - stay in your car deliveries". Meanwhile, at the sit down pavilion, hundreds came to enjoy the all you can eat barbecue. Cooking, chopping, and serving hot food kept the volunteers very busy. As always, people came from all over two counties. If you know anything about Cleveland County, you are aware that the New House area is known for both Jenkins and Mack's livermush. It's livermush country! However, once a year it's all about the Sandy Plains Baptist barbecue. Sandy Plains Baptist Church serves up tasty barbecue Pastor Garin Hill - M. A. Andrews - M. A. Andrews - M. A. Kiwanis supporters, Bill and Ruth Young (right), also attended. The couple have- been to every pancake supper, since 1970. That's a total of 34 years and a lot of pan- cakes! The annual event was held in the Shelby High School Cafeteria prior to the South Point - Shelby Golden Lions football game. It's the tradition- al way to kick off the football season!
