Post Staff MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and Mayor Tom Barrett announced Wednesday a revised plan for the $122 million apartment tower at Milwaukee's lakefront. The revised plan is a change from devel- oper Rick Barrett's previous proposal. The plan had called for retail space in the tower's first two floors and 302 apartments. The new plan keeps two floors of retail space, but also includes an opening through the space in which a streetcar track and buses would cycle. Renderings provided by the county show a new spur of the downtown streetcar traveling through East Michigan Street and along the soon-to-be-constructed East Clybourn Street. The spur was not part of the previous plans for the downtown streetcar. The plan also keeps three pedestrian bridges as part of the reconstruction of the downtown lakefront's infrastructure, sched- uled to begin next year. "When Milwaukee County first chose Rick Barrett's Couture project, we saw an amazing opportunity that would be hard to top. This updated plan is even better.
