German American's Petersburg insurance team relocating, building to be used as City Hall German American is plan- ning a remodeling project at its 305 East Main Street office in Petersburg to add space for its insurance team. The insurance team, which currently occupies the former Doty Insurance building at 518 East Main Street, will be relo- cating to join the Petersburg banking and investment team. Following the relocation of the insurance team, German American will be donating the former Doty Insurance build- ing to the City of Petersburg, which will use it as its new city hall. "Consolidating our Peters- burg's financial team into one office makes sense for our cus- tomers and our team mem- bers," said Joe Dedman, exec- utive vice president and chief operating officer of German American Insurance. "Clients expect convenience, and this move will give our clients ac- cess to banking, insurance and investment services with- out the need to travel between two offices located across the street from each other." "This is a move we have been anticipating for quite some time," Dedman added. "With the opportunity to do- nate our insurance building to the City of Petersburg, we felt the timing was right to strengthen our commitment to Petersburg by breaking ground on this remodeling project." In April, the City of Peters- burg's common council voted unanimously to accept the do- nation of the former Doty In- surance building from Ger- man American. "The City of Petersburg ap- preciates the generous gift of this building from German American," Petersburg May- or Frank Coleman said. "We will transition the office into our new city hall after the in- surance team has been relo- cated." "The German American Team has been a community partner for the City of Peters- burg throughout the years," Coleman added. "This project is a testament to their desire to better serve their custom- ers and give back to our com- munity." German American will be- gin remodeling its 305 East Main Street location this sum- mer and anticipates that the in- surance team will be relocated into this office by early fall of 2014. There will be no inter- ruption of service during this transition and the insurance team will continue to serve their clients out of their pres- ent office at 518 East Main Street until their new space is available. "Our banking and invest- ment team looks forward to sharing office space with our insurance team and welcom- ing our insurance customers," said Brett Warner, vice pres- ident, Retail Banking at Ger- man American's Petersburg office. "We are confident that our customers will appreciate the convenience of accessing their financial needs in one stop." German American Insur- ance customers should con- tinue using the current insur- ance location at 518 East Main Street in Petersburg and will be notified when the office is relocated to 305 East Main Street. The phone number – (812) 354-8888 – will remain the same and office hours will continue to be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, June 4, 2014 A-5
