All players are expected to run a 60 -yard dash. Posi- tion players must field and throw from their positions, as well as take batting prac- tice. Pitchers will be re- quired to throw to hitters in a simulated game. Catchers should bring their own catching gear. The tryouts will last most of the afternoon, depending on the number of athletes participating. To participate in the try- outs, potential student-ath- letes must have proof of an athletic activity physical (no exceptions) within the last year. Photo submitted. VU baseball team plans summer tryouts Anglers at West Boggs Creek Reservoir in Daviess County are being allowed to harvest more fish. The reservoir will under- go a renovation during fall that will consist of draining the water and eradicating the fish population. As the reser- voir refills, it will be stocked with the appropriate num- bers of game fish. The goal is to restore a balanced, self- sustaining fish population. A temporary change to size and bag limits allows anglers to harvest more fish before the lake is drained. The rule change is in effect through Oct. 10. The bag limit for large- mouth bass on West Boggs has been increased to 10, and there is no size limit. Bag limits for all other spe- cies are double the normal daily bag limit. Two fish salvage opera- tions will also take place in spring and fall for adult bass and catfish. The lake is scheduled to reopen to the public in Feb- ruary 2015.
