Services were held at Stamey- Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel, Cherryville, NC. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Military Honors. Mr. Stroupe served our country in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Marines during WWII, and then in the U.S. Army dur- ing the Korean an Vietnam Wars. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Gisela Dumeke; his parents, Alfred Isaac Stroupe and Beulah Dellinger Stroupe; 7 sisters, Lillian Watts, Della Short, Irene Lineberry, Iva Rhyne, Mildred Winfield, Helen Graves and Velda Wetherill; and 2 brothers, Jack Stroupe and Richard Stroupe. He is survived by his 2nd wife, Francie Lanius; 1 daughter, Melanie Stroupe of Phoenix, Arizona; 1 special brother, Charles Shirley and wife Marilyn of Millersville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great- great-nieces and nephews whom he adored; special friends, Patricia Keeter and family; and his spoiled pet companions, Bootsie, Miss Yow and Fred Astaire. Services were held at Sandy Mush Baptist Church. Burial followed in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. Mr. Trout served our coun- try in the U.S. Army, during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vangie Hutchins Trout; his mother, Ruth Drucila Walker Trout; 1 son, George Robert Trout; 2 brothers, J.K. Trout and Oliver Trout; and 5 sisters, Jeanette Gundrum, Annie Sue Edwards, Georgia Hall, Martha Shimp and Grace Windham.
