J Photo Brian Morowczynski Juventino Cano, CEO & President of Cano Container, based in Aurora, Illinois. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Convention in Milwaukee seven years ago, when he was lucky enough to come away with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. But the USHCC Conventions have paid much bigger dividends than a classic motorcycle to the owner of Cano Container, one of the most successful Latin-held businesses in the country. The Convention is among his favorite dates of the year, because it gives him a valuable opportunity to solidify his business relationships. "This is a huge opportunity to do business with other companies, both big and small," Cano said. "This is the time when I get to see all my customers in person. It is like bringing all my clients to the same spot." Cano has been a member of the USHCC Board for the past 12 years, and recently he was appointed as a Regional Director. He feels at home during the Convention: "This has been a really productive showcase for me, because I get to speak with my current clients and other prospective customers, all under the same roof." Cano's journey to business success had a humble beginning. An immigrant from Estapilla – an isolated farming town facing the Pacific Ocean in the Mexican state of Colima – Cano settled in Aurora, Illinois, where he began working in a cardboard factory. His hard work led to a supervisor position, and in 1986 he seized an opportunity to open his own cardboard plant. The business grew steadily through expansion and acquisition, and today Cano Container's two facilities generate sales of more than $20 million annually. Juventino is one of those entrepreneurs who never lets an opportunity pass him by, as he continually strives to take his business to new heights. His experiences as an active member of both the USHCC and its Conventions and Business Expos have shown him time and time again that success is possible for anyone willing to work hard and pursue their dreams. "We have seen that, particularly in recent years, the USHCC has made considerable progress in its mission to help Latin American entrepreneurs, and I am grateful for taking part in this new stage of the organization."
