It keeps us alive, it keeps us healthy, but most of all it's just one of life's greatest pleasures. Like any other "big thing," the food world has its celebrities, now more than ever. The Food Network especially has done its part to create stars of the culinary world; even casual watchers of the network recognize Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray and Guy Fieri. Well, those celebrities may need to watch their backs, because Chef Anne Burrell is fast building her own brand of stardom. Easily one of the most recognizable personalities on the Food Network, thanks to her distinctively wild blond hair, the Culinary Institute of America grad got her television start in a rather humble way — as a sous chef to one of the greats. Way back in 2005, she was invited to serve as one of Chef Mario Batali's sous chefs on the set of "Iron Chef America," a position she holds to this day. This, however, was just the beginning. Today, she's sitting atop a TV heap that keeps on growing. Her latest project is "Chef Wanted With Anne Burrell," which launched its third season earlier this month. In "Chef Wanted," Burrell visits restaurants scattered across the nation that are looking for new executive chefs, and puts four applicants through their paces. The latest episode, airing Aug. 29, finds Burrell at a Boston restaurant with an intriguing twist for the applicants — they'll have to manage the meals for an entire chain of popular restaurants across the city. Aside from "Chef Wanted," Burrell's kept busy with her other shows. She shares professional techniques with at-home cooks in "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef," and over three seasons took on three other chefs in head-to-head battles in "Worst Cooks in America," finally losing out to Bobby Flay in the show's fourth season. She's competed in "Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs" as well as "Chopped." Cleary, Burrell has the drive and the energy to keep up with the Food Network's more established stars, and there's no signs of her slowing down any time soon. With the third season of "Chef Wanted With Anne Burrell" going strong, this unique TV chef is definitely one to check out.
