He teams up with other Spider-People – including Gwen Stacy (voice of Hailee Steinfeld), who has the alias of Spider-Woman – to oppose a power-craving nem- esis known as The Spot (voice of Jason Schwartz- man). True to the film's title, the showdown takes the characters across several incarnations of Earth, with Miles experiencing some troubling revelations along the journey. Brian Tyree Henry, Jake John- son, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali, Oscar Isaac, Elizabeth Perkins and Rachel Dratch also are in the voice cast, and some surprising live-action callbacks to earlier "Spider-Man" movies are incorporated by the screenwriters who include Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. *** (PG: P, V) (Also on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, Digital and On Demand) ""This is a very seminal hour for us. I went in thinking that we would be able to avert a strike. The gravity of this move is not lost on me" — SAG president Fran Drescher said in July "What good are our painful experi- ences if we just lock them away and pre- tend like everything's perfect? That's not doing anybody any good." — Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) on opening up about her 10 years in a cult as part of a Variety podcast BY JAY BOBBIN Family Viewing Ratings AS Adult situations P Profanity V Violence N Nudity GV Graphic Violence "STAR TREK: PICARD – THE FINAL SEASON" The creative team behind this series won critical raves for this concluding round of the return of Patrick Stewart as "Star Trek: The Next Generation" leader Jean-Luc Picard. He's on a very personal mission here, as he investigates an intergalactic attack on Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) and her son (Ed Speleers), reuniting with William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) along the way. Some surprising revela - tions add greatly to the emotional depth, with actors who clearly are up to the challenge. Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, LeVar Burton and Brent Spiner are among other casting throwbacks to the franchise's history here. A "Complete Series" set also is newly available. DVD extras: "making-of" documentaries; panel discussion with cast and crew. **** (Not rated: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray and DVD and Blu-ray Steelbook) "THE PRINCESS BRIDE" Director Rob Reiner's enduringly popular 1987 fantasy – filmed across England and also in Ireland – gets 4K Ultra HD treatment via The Criterion Collection, with loads of extras including an audio commentary featuring Reiner, writer William Goldman (who adapted his own book for the film), producer Andrew Scheinman and stars Billy Crystal and Peter Falk. The story-around- the-story finds a senior citizen (Falk) telling his grandson (Fred Savage) the saga of the lovely Buttercup (Robin Wright), who appears destined to become the wife of a sinister prince (Chris Sarandon), though she truly loves a farm worker (Cary Elwes). Her kidnapping sends would-be rescuers in pursuit, sometimes in conflict, with plenty of unusual characters encountered along the way. Christopher Guest, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Peter Cook and Carol Kane also are among cast members of this much-beloved attraction, which has en- chanted several generations and is certain to captivate many more as time goes on. **** (PG: AS, V) "NCIS: LOS ANGELES – THE FINAL SEASON" After 14 seasons, this CBS spinoff came to a close earlier this year, and those who followed the show should be quite satisfied with the way the finale wraps things up for many of the characters … though LL Cool J will be continuing his Sam Hanna role on a recurring basis on "NCIS: Hawai'i" (which shares a crossover story with "NCIS: Los An- geles" during this round). A major personal development is in store for Callen (Chris O'Donnell) before the curtain comes down, and the search continues for the still-missing Hetty (Linda Hunt, whose presence is made known in a creative way). Some familiar faces from the past return for a last hurrah in the series finale. Daniela Ruah (who also directed two episodes here), Eric Christian Olsen and Gerald McRaney also star, with Bar Paly and Vyto Ruginis among those ap- pearing in their recurring roles. A "Complete Series" collection also is being issued. *** (Not rated: AS, P, V) "SUCCESSION: THE COMPLETE FOURTH AND FINAL SEASON" (SEPT. 12) "AIR" (SEPT. 12) "POKER FACE: SEASON ONE" (SEPT. 12) "THE WALKING DEAD: DEAD CITY – SEASON ONE" (SEPT. 12) Miles Morales from "Spider-Man: Across the Spider- Verse" Ben Affleck in "Air" Solution on page 19
