Jim Koury is a seeker of personal truth, and desires to empower oth- ers to find their own personal truth, whatever it may be. He is also an ac vist who is not afraid to speak his mind, and ruffle some feath- ers, if necessary. His main objec ve is to get people to think and think for themselves. He espouses Aristotle's mantra, "It is the mark of an educated mind to en- tertain a thought without accep ng it." Jim does not force his views on others but just puts them out there for folks to think about and discard if they wish. Welcome to the August issue of Diversity Rules Mag- azine. It is wild that we are into the 8th month of the year already. Time is a flying by... This month's feature is a new series called "Pa erns," which features Ben Cohen. The sesries premiered on Dekkoo on July 27th. Ben Cohen, the Rugby champion and long me ally of LGBTQ+ rights, is making his ac ng debut this summer in Pa erns, a new LGBTQ+ series acquired by TLA Releasing that began streaming exclusively on Dekkoo on July 27. In mini-narra ves, the Brit- ish camp comedy explores several unique themes that make up the lives of LGBTQ+ people and its al- lies, including family dynamics, coming out, da ng, therapy and surviving an existen al crisis. Each epi- sode tells its own dis nct story, but all episodes take place in the same universe so that a minor character in one episode may reappear as the lead in another and vice-versa. "Pa erns was created to be a reflec- on of everyday queer life and how we navigate dif- ferent social circles at work, with friends and family, behaving differently within each circle we frequent," explains director Rex Glensy. "The beauty of the se- ries is that it explores this dynamic with humor and heart." In addi on to the feature, there are numerous other ar cles of interest. These include our regulars Stu Schwartz, exposing his exhibi onist tales, along with Joey Amato's Pride Journeys column. Joey takes us on a tour of South Africa. A great read for sure. Di- ane Lang returns with an ar cle about reclaiming our power, as well as an ar cle by Peter Minkoff, about empowering LGBTQ individuals in the workplace. I am confident there is something that will pique your interest in this month's issue. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. See you September. Eeeeekkkk. You know what is coming fast a er that!!?? YUK. My Two Cents A Message From The Editor James R. Koury, Editor/Publisher Diversity Rules Magazine | Aug 2023 | 3
