Shaun Evans in "Endeavour" This week's Best bets By Michelle Rose TV Media Floating 'Butterfly': Back in February, Variety reported that Daniel Day Kim ("New Amsterdam") was tied to a new potential TV project that would bring a graphic novel to small screens everywhere. It's no longer a "potential" series: Kim will executive pro- duce and star in "Butterfly," a new spy thriller recently ordered to series. Look for "Butterfly" to take flight on Amazon's Prime Video stream- ing service. The six-episode series is based on the BOOM! Studios graphic novel by Arash Amel and co-written by Marguerite Bennett, with illustrations by Antonio Faso and Stefano Simeone. Reportedly, the TV version's main storyline shouldn't stray too far from the graphic novel. According to the official log- line, the series centers on David Jung (Kim), "an enig- matic, highly unpredictable former U.S. intelligence opera- tive living in South Korea, whose life is blown to pieces when the consequences of an impossible decision from his past come back to haunt him, and he finds himself pursued by Rebecca, a deadly, socio- pathic young agent assigned to kill him." Kim — whose acting credits include "Lost" and a role in Netflix's upcoming live-action adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" — has been increasingly active behind the camera. The film and television production company he found- ed, 3AD, produces the ABC medical drama "The Good Doctor," and it's also behind "Butterfly" as part a first-look deal signed with Amazon Studios in 2019.
