Barbara was born Sunday, December 19, 1926 in Rutherford County to the late Walter Winslow Padgett and Cordie Cora Goforth Padgett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Powell; son, Walter Gene Powell; brothers, Calvin and Hubert Padgett; and a sister, Beatrice Lavender. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Wayne Powell (Jane) of Bostic and Ronnie Powell (Gilda); sister, Diane Padgett Hewitt of Forest City; broth- er, Norman Padgett of Bostic; four grandsons, and a great-granddaughter. The funeral was held April 17th at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend David Easler officiating. Interment followed in the church cem- etery. He was the son of the late, Alfred Dare and Euveta Cochran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Cochran; sister, Shena Cochran; and RUTH BARNETT WILSON Ruth Barnett Wilson, 92, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on April 15, 2023 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was daughter of the late Stewart Kenneth Barnett and Dorothy Minella Sprague Barnett and was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Wilson. She is survived by her daughter: Kathy Livsie and husband Aubrey, Kings Mtn. NC; son: Ken Wilson and wife Dolores, Gastonia, NC; sister: Jean Stager, Rock Hill, SC; four grandchildren; and three great grandchil- dren. Memorial service was held at Central United Methodist Church April 21, 2023 with Rev. Bruce Gwyn officiating. She is survived by her chil- brother, Jody Petty. Born in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Dever and Leila Traylor Morgan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Pearson, Lee Morgan, Frances Bridges, Nell Morgan, Barbara Morgan, Sylvia Morgan, Lily Mae Morgan and Millicent Greene; and brothers, Joe and Bobby Morgan. She is survived by her son, Dennis Blanton and wife Lisa of Shelby; seven grandchildren; and a great- great-grandchild. In addition to her moth- er, she is survived by her husband, Walt Griffin of the home; son, Wilson Griffin of Shelby; daughter, Lee Ann Morris and husband John of Blythewood, SC; sisters, Jane Szymborski and husband Paul and Patti Thompson and husband John, both of Shelby; and a granddaughter. Born in Cleveland County on March 27, 1941, Mr. Dedmon was the son of the late John Daniel and Mattie Grey Dedmon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Swink Dedmon, and five siblings. He is survived by one daughter, Karen Dedmon of Shelby, two sons, James Dedmon of Casar, Michael Dedmon of Forest City, three grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
