Entertainment Now | April 15 - 21, 2023 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Diplomat" - Season 1 Keri Russell ("The Americans") is keeping it cool in the midst of an international crisis in the new se- ries "The Diplomat," premiering on Netflix Thursday, April 20. The new U.S. Ambassador to the Unit- ed Kingdom, Kate Wyler (Russell) is great in a crisis, but her new high-profile job leaves her feeling like she's in over her head. While war is brewing on one continent and boiling over in another, Kate must adjust to her place in the spotlight while forming strategic alliances in London and diffusing an international incident before it can escalate further. All the while, she works behind the scenes to keep her marriage to Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell, "The Man in the High Castle"), a fellow career dip- lomat and political star, from fall- ing apart. From creator and show- runner Debora Cahn ("Home- land"), "The Diplomat" is directed by Liza Johnson ("Physical") and Simon Cellan Jones ("Ballers"). David Gyasi ("Interstellar," 2014), Ali Ahn ("Billions"), Rory Kinnear ("The Imitation Game," 2014) and Ato Essandoh ("Chicago Med") also star. "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always" - Season 1 It's morphin' time! Everyone's favorite multi-colored monster fighters are back for the new family action series, "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always," which premieres Wednesday, April 19, on Netflix. Thirty years after the formation of the Mighty Morphin Power Rang- ers, the original team is brought back together by the reappear- ance of a familiar threat from the past, and as a global crisis rages around them, they're called on once again to be the heroes the world needs. Inspired by the fran- chise's legendary mantra, "once a Ranger, always a Ranger," this 30th-anniversary special sees the return of Catherine Sutherland ("The Cell," 2000) as Kat Hillard, the Pink Ranger; David Yost ("De- generate," 2012) as Billy Crans- ton, the Blue Ranger; Steve Cardenas ("Beast of the Water," 2017) as Rocky DeSantos, the Red Ranger; Walter Emanuel Jones ("Speed Demons," 2012) as Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger; Karan Ashley ("The Steve Harvey Show") as Aisha Campbell; Rich- ard Steven Horvitz ("The Loud House") as Alpha 5; Barbara Goodson ("Akira," 1988) as Rita Repulsa; and Johnny Yong Bosch ("Bleach") as Adam Park. Charlie Kersh ("Clique Wars") and Tuari Wright ("Stella & Sam") also star. From executive producer Simon Bennett ("Power Rangers Dino Fury"), "Once & Always" is di- rected by Charlie Haskell ("Power Rangers Ninja Storm") and writ- ten by Becca Barnes ("Power Rangers Beast Morphers") and Alwyn Dale ("Power Rangers Ninja Steel"). WHAT'S NEW ON PRIME "Dead Ringers" - Season 1 Prime Video's modern take on David Cronenberg's 1988 thriller, "Dead Ringers," makes its streaming debut Friday, April 21. Rachel Weisz ("The Constant Gardener," 2005) stars in the six- episode drama as both Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything from drugs and lovers to their unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes to reach their goals. As they push the boundar- ies of medical ethics in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women's health care to the forefront, the Mantle twins take on New York City and the is- land of Manhattan as they look to change the way women give birth. Britne Oldford ("The Um- brella Academy"), Poppy Liu ("Hacks"), Michael Chernus ("Severance"), Jennifer Ehle ("Zero Dark Thirty," 2012) and Emily Meade ("The Deuce") are also part of the series' ensemble cast. WHAT'S NEW ON APPLE TV+ "Ghosted" (2023) Get on the case with the new action rom-com "Ghosted" when it premieres on Apple TV+ Friday, April 21. All it takes is one meet- ing for ordinary, salt-of-the-earth Cole (Chris Evans, "The Aveng- ers," 2012) to fall head over heels for Sadie (Ana de Armas, "Blade Runner 2049," 2017). But, before they can even make it to their second date, Cole learns a shock- ing secret: his enigmatic new love interest is a secret agent. Swept up into a dangerous new world, Cole and Sadie are pulled away on an international adventure to save the world.
