Entertainment Now | April 8 - 14, 2023 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON APPLE TV+ "The Last Thing He Told Me" Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Laura Dave, the new, seven-part limited series, "The Last Thing He Told Me," fol- lows the journey of a mother and stepdaughter as they are brought together by terrifying circumstanc- es. The series premieres its first two episodes Friday, April 14, with epi- sodes airing weekly on Fridays thereafter. "The Last Thing He Told Me" stars Jennifer Garner ("Alias") as Hannah, a woman whose life is upended when her husband, Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, "Game of Thrones"), mysteriously goes missing. Left behind with nothing but a note to protect her 16-year-old stepdaughter, Bailey (Angourie Rice, "Mare of East- town"), who wants nothing to do with her, the pair slowly grow clos- er as they work to find out what re- ally happened to Owen. Adapted for the screen by Dave, the series is executive produced by Hello Sun- shine's Reese Witherspoon ("Wild," 2014) and Lauren Neus- tadter ("Little Fires Everywhere"). "The Last Thing He Told Me" also stars Aisha Tyler ("Criminal Minds"), Augusto Aguilera ("Too Old to Die Young"), Geoff Stults ("Guilty Party") and John Harlan Kim ("9-1-1"). WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die" (2023) The epic saga of "The Last King- dom" wraps up with the follow-up film, "The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die," when it pre- mieres on Netflix Friday, April 14. Based on the Saxon Stories series of novels by Bernard Cornwell, "The Last Kingdom" is set in Eng- land in the first century, as a centu- ry-long war has raged through the land between its inhabitants and the Danish invaders, with a tenta- tive peace settled between nearly everyone — except Lord Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreymon, "American Horror Story"), ruling over Northumbria, who has yet to pledge his land to the throne. But, when King Edward (Timothy Innes, "Harlots") dies, the peace is threatened once again as his two potential heirs, Aethelstan (Harry Gilby, "Tolkien," 2019) and Aelf- weard (Ewan Horrocks, "Domi- na"), battle to claim the crown. Faced with difficult decisions about the future of the country, Uhtred and his cohort embark on a jour- ney across the country in the hopes of uniting England at last. Directed by Edward Bazalgette ("Marie An- toinette") with a screenplay by ex- ecutive producer Martha Hillier ("Vera"), "The Last Kingdom: Sev- en Kings Must Die" is produced by Mat Chaplin ("Fortitude"), Nigel Marchant ("Downton Abbey") and Gareth Neame ("The Gilded Age"). WHAT'S NEW ON HULU "Am I Being Unreasonable?" - Season 1 The hit BBC comedy thriller se- ries "Am I Being Unreasonable?" makes its leap across the pond and onto Hulu Tuesday, April 11. Daisy May Cooper ("This Country") stars as Nic, who is grieving a loss she can't share with anyone else while stuck in a depressing marriage, with only her son, Ollie (Lenny Rush, "Apple Tree House"), keep- ing her going. But when she finds a kindred spirit in Jen (Selin Hizli, "Grantchester"), a new arrival to town, Nic soon finds her dark se- cret starting to bubble up. Created and written by stars Cooper and Hizli, "Am I Being Unreasonable?" is directed by Jonny Campbell ("In- former"). WHAT'S NEW ON DISNEY+ "Rennervations" - Season 1 Embracing his lifelong passion for giving back, actor Jeremy Renner ("Hawkeye") is helping to better communities around the world in the new four-part series "Rennervations," which makes its Disney+ premiere Wednesday, April 12. Reimagining unique, purpose-built vehicles to meet a community's particular needs, the series goes behind the scenes as Renner, a construction veteran, his best friend and business part- ner, Rory Millikin, and an all-star construction crew travel the globe hoping to make life a little easier everywhere they go. Throughout the series, the team turns a tour bus into a mobile music studio, a delivery truck into a mobile water treatment facility, a shuttle bus into a mobile recre- ation center, and a city bus into a mobile dance studio, while spe- cial celebrity guests Anthony Mackie ("The Falcon and the Winter Soldier"), Vanessa Hud- gens ("Tick, Tick… Boom!" 2021), Anil Kapoor ("Slumdog Millionaire," 2008) and Sebastián Yatra ("Encanto," 2021) join in to help out along the way.
