Main Street and it started at 6 pm. The first item on the agenda involved a golf cart Ordinance and that it will be amended. The renewal date for this golf cart Ordinance will be in May. Next on the list was water bills and the dates displayed on the bills. These must be completed by May 31 and motorists must have a valid driver's license. The following item on the agenda included storm sewer repair at 115 E 1025 S and this will cost a total of $510.00. Mov- ing on, the city is still awaiting quotes on the new coatings for the public tennis court. This tennis court project is weather permit- ting and after the coatings are completed, the taping for pickleball will be laid down. A new Ordinance 2023-02 was enacted and this program is in place for the sake of protecting the public water system from contamination to backflow of contaminants through the water system connection into the public water system. This is a program authorized by IDEM to effectively prevent contamination to the public water systems. Ty Webb is ready to take the Water Distri- bution test at IVY Tech, which will cost $40 and $30 with IDEM. During the meeting, Bryon Will explained that three years ago there was a problem with a geothermal system when putting in the new meters on the property of Gerald Martin. The Town of Haubstadt had originally fixed this system and covered all costs at that time. The property owner has had another issue come up and he called Perfect Climate to repair the system again, which cost a total of $875.00. The council agreed to pay for this second repair, but will not pay for any future repairs. Mr. Will also brought up another agenda item, which per- tained to fixing the rest of Elm Street with a Community Crossing Grant. There would be eight residents the Town of Haubstadt would have to acquire easements from in order to perform the work. Plans of looking into this proposed Grant are set for January 2024. "Big Fish" A Big HIT! By James Rae, Jr. editor@sgstartimes.com The Gibson Southern Theatre at GSHS put on an excellent production of the musical "Big Fish". The music and lyrics are originally done by Andrew Lippa and there is also a book by John August. "Big Fish" is based on Daniel Wallace's 1998 novel, "Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions", and the 2003 film "Big Fish" written by John August and directed by Tim Burton. The story of "Big Fish" revolves around the characters of traveling salesman, Edward Bloom and his son Will. The father, son relation- ship is closely examined as Will consumes all of his dad's tall tales. With a cast of nearly 100 students, the Gibson Southern Theatre brought this wonderful story to life on stage. "Big Fish" ran for the entire weekend, March 17-19, and this event took place at Gibson Southern Auditorium. This production was filled with enchanting scenes that would delight an audience, young and old. The dynamic setting catches the eye with an appealing set and creative props. "Big Fish" went swimmingly and without a hitch, thanks to the talented group of students involved with this production. Gibson County's own, Sheriff Vanoven had a glowing review of "Big Fish" that he was happy to share. "I'm gonna be honest as a person who LOVES the movie, I came in with less than stellar expectations. This story as a son who has lost his dad and only knew the tip of the iceberg about him really resonates with me. I did not expect it to resonate even deeper than the movie, but I was totally mistaken. This was the best production I've seen locally hands down! I highly recommend you see this. Great job Gang… AMAZING!!!" I am sure that magic was in the air and the stars aligned for the entire cast during all show- ings of "Big Fish". Hard work and dedication does pay off as a large group of nearly 100 stu- dents proved this over the weekend. "Big Fish" may be over now, but as they say the show must go on and Gibson Southern Theatre is just getting started! The future looks extremely bright for the young, aspiring actors and actresses at GSHS as "Big Fish" made a BIG splash on the community! Cast member enjoys a dance routine during scene in "Big Fish". Colorful set and attire is visible to audience during "Big Fish". Two actors are taking in the moment during "Big Fish". The cast is relishing in the moment during "Big Fish".
