The General John Gibson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet on Saturday, April 8th, from 10:00-12:00, at the Princeton Public Librar y for the annual awards program for the American Essay Writer and Good Citizens winners. She was born to the late Fred and Macy (Meade) Dearing on October 7, 1938, in Fort Branch, IN. Marilyn was a member of the Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Fort Branch, IN. She graduated from Owens- ville High School and married the love of her life, Kenneth "Pete" Wallace on December 2, 1956. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her grandchildren and watching game shows. She was a member of the Home Ec. Club and sold Tupperware for 15 years. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Kenneth "Pete" Wallace; daughter, Don- na Graper; and brother, Wayne Dearing. She is survived by her chil- dren, Sandra (David) Schmitt of Haubstadt, IN, Terry (Diane "Annie") Wallace of Fort Branch, IN, and Lori (Kevin Spindler) Haley of Haubstadt, IN; son-in-law, David Graper of Fort Branch, IN; siblings, Stanley (Ruth) Dearing of Fort Branch, IN and Donnie (Clara) Dearing of Fort Branch, IN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Dearing of Fort Branch, IN; 6 grand- children, 8 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank special friend Nancy Ep- person and Deaconess Hospice for all their wonderful care of Marilyn. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with Pastor Mike Douglas as officiant. Visitation will be on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Fort Branch. MARJORIE JANE (WOOD) KARGES Marjorie Jane (Wood) Karges, 81, passed away Tues- day, February 28, 2023, at the Linda E. White Hospice House, in Evansville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed working with her flowers and decorating her home. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Anthony J. Karges; a daughter, Leslie (Randy) Rexing, of Haubstadt; three sons, Michael (Dawn) Karges, of Evansville, Nick Karges and friend, Candy, of Haubstadt and Keith (Jenny) Karges, of Evansville; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2023, at the St. James Catho- lic Church. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until time of service, at the church, with a Rosary service beginning at 8:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Chil- dren's Research Hospital or St. James Catholic Church. Psi Iota Xi news Father/daugher dance set for April 1 Zeta Gamma Chapter met at the home of Jackie Bent on Tuesday, March 7. The social committee served soup, sandwiches, and dessert to its members. Following the meal President Lesa Bond led members in the opening verse. Minutes were read and ap- proved. Mo Dix, Sandyl Birch, Lesa Bond, and Trenda Ridge will be attending the Indiana State Meeting of Psi Iota Xi on Saturday, April 22. A get well card was passed around for members to sign. It was sent to Margie Beal recovering from recent surgery. Sandy Birch gave a report on the upcoming Father/Daughter Dance to be held on Saturday April 1 at the Fort Branch Community School gym. Mo Dix, National Presi- dent, reported on the National Convention to be conducted on June 23 to 25 at the Old Nation- al Events Plaza in Evansville. Registration packets were sent to all chapters. Delegates and other members can make hotel reservations at the Double Tree across from the Events Plaza. Zeta Gamma members are busy preparing for over 300 Psi Ote Sisters in 94 chapters. Trenda donated the raffle item with Linda winning it. Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 4 at the Fort Branch Fire Department. Sandy has refresh- ments and Lesa has Raffle item. GWALIA KAY WASSMER FORT BRANCH Gwalia Kay Wassmer, 83, of Fort Branch, IN, passed away at her home on March 17, 2023. She was born to the late Densil and Margaret (McCleary) Georges on December 19, 1939, in Fort Branch. Kay was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She retired from Hansen's Corpo- ration in Princeton, IN, in 2007 after many years of service. She enjoyed long drives, attending her grandchildren's sporting event, and playing solitaire. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Marcus H. Wassmer; and her siblings, Louie Georges, Larry Georges, and Glenda Sprinkle. Kay is survived by her children, Michael (Kristine) Wassmer of Wadesville, IN and Beth (Darrin) Schmitt of Haubstadt, IN; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Landon Schmitt; step-grandchildren, Emily, Elias, and Sophia Atkinson; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Hughes of Evansville, IN and Ann Georges of Fort Branch, IN; and a brother-in-law, Joe Wassmer of Mt. Vernon, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch with Father Gary Kaiser as celebrant. Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until mass time at the church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Soft Lock Down at GSHS Fort Branch--On Friday, March 17, 2023, School Re- source Officer Dan Lienemann observed graffiti in a restroom on the Gibson Southern High School property that he deemed threatening in nature. As a result, and in an abundance of caution the School Resource Officer had the school put on a soft lock down until additional officers could arrive on scene to monitor the release of students.
