Entertainment Now | March 11 - 17, 2023 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "Shadow and Bone" - Sea- son 2 The stories from author Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse spring to life once more when Season 2 of the fantasy drama "Shadow and Bone" premieres Thursday, March 16, on Netflix. As the story picks back up, the protagonist, Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li, "Last Night in Soho," 2021) is on the run — a beacon of hope to some and a sus- pected traitor to others. Alina is de- termined to bring down the Shad- ow Fold and save Ravka from ruin, but Gen. Kirigan (Ben Barnes, "The Punisher") has returned to finish what he started and, with an army of seemingly indestructible shad- ow monsters and fearsome new Grisha recruits, he's more danger- ous than ever. To stand a chance at fighting back, Alina and Mal (Ar- chie Renaux, "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," 2022) must rally their own allies and embark on a jour- ney for two mythical creatures that can amplify Alina's powers. Execu- tive produced by Bardugo, the se- ries is also executive produced by co-showrunners and writers Eric Heisserer ("Arrival," 2016) and Daegan Fryklind ("Bitten") and di- rected by Bola Ogun ("On the Run," 2018), Laura Belsey ("The Walking Dead"), Karen Gaviola ("Paper Girls") and Mairzee Almas ("The 100").
