Fort Branch 7th Grade Student Writes Novel for School Project By James Rae, Jr. editor@sgstartimes.com Fort Branch-Kyla F. recently wrote and published her own novel as part of a genius hour project. Kyla is a 7th grade student at Fort Branch Com- munity School and she wrote over 27,000 words during the span of 22 days. This is an impressive feat for Kyla F. and she should be ver y proud of her hard work and efforts. The book is titled "Sunny to Sunset" and this genius hour project took place during Mrs. Tricia Snow's English/ Language Arts class at FBCS. When asked what the inspi- ration was behind writing the book, Kyla F. said, "My inspiration when writing this book definitely came from reading a ton of other books and getting ideas. I like to pay attention to situations around me and tr y to imagine a new world from a different perspective. Then I put it into a stor y." According to Kyla, the biggest challenge she faced when writing this novel was "having to be patient and take my time while writing. Most small stories I've writ- ten in the past only last about 40-50 pages because I'm so ready to get to the point. This book I had to take my time and really focus on lengthen- ing out the conversations and things that go on during the book." Kyla F. truly loves the art of writing and she said, "I intend on writing more and more in the future. I've always loved writing and I'm sure my passion for it will continue as I get through school and hopefully become an author after high-school and college. Until then, I'll probably spend my free time making up fun stories and hope that one day one of them goes big." It's always refreshing and in- spiring to come across young and talented writers with a passion for writing. Be on the lookout for upcoming works by new author and Fort Branch's own Kyla F who looks to develop plenty of creative ideas over time. Who knows, maybe one day people will be saying move over J.K. Rowling, here comes Kyla F. with more novels! Kyla F. Life Milestones made free CALL: 812-753-3553 Put a free photo with write up on your Family and Class Reunions.
