Hill-Keeker, Principal at Pike Central Middle School Pike Central Middle school along with the other schools within our corpora- tion had the op- portuni- ty to try out our new syn- chro- nous learning plan during the recent winter weather. Teachers were very optimistic about the pro- cess and the success of our initial virtual school days with the new plan. We had an outstanding attendance rate and participation by our students. Teachers enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students in a differ- ent setting. They report- ed that many students shared things with them like pets, younger sib- lings, and unique hobbies that they normally would not in the traditional school setting. students also gave pos- itive feedback about their experience with the new virtual learning. This was a positive way for teach- ers and students to build relationships that will carry over to success in the classroom. They both now have more things to talk about and are able to connect student inter- ests with grade level cur- riculum. education is always more successful when students can see the con- nection between the ac- ademic content and real world application. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff, students, and parents for their efforts in making synchro- nous learning happen. I acknowledge that this took great effort and thoughtful planning on everyone's part. I know that changes in routine are not always easy for parents to navigate while trying to work. as school staff, we will continue to strive to make improvements to the process that will benefit everyone and ulti- mately provide academic success to our students.
