Mechanics street Otwell Pastor 812-354-3028 sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; morning worship at 10:30 a.m.; sunday evening worship service at 6:30 p.m. roy stilwell, Pastor europe as a measuring stick of coming attractions in the us. britain is the only coun- try that has a state sponsored Christian religion—the Church of england or an- glican church. In 1933, they baptized 75 percent of brit- ish babies into the Church of england. and most peo- ple defined themselves as Christians. Today, out of a population of 67-million, fewer than 1 million people regularly at- tend a church service, and just two percent of young adults call themselves angli- cans. The Church of england is dying. several british poli- ticians proclaim there is "no place for God in british pol- itics." It is time to uncouple the church from the state. at its present rate of decline, it could be extinct by the 2060s. The church in the us is not faring any better. Gallop poll data reveals us church membership among adults in 1937 was 73% and continued at 70% before beginning a steady decline around 2000. In 2020, 47% of americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue or mosque, down from 70% in 1999 and 50% in 2018. The decline in young- er adult's membership is startling. Gallop says 31% of millen- nials (people born between 1980s and late 1990s) have no religious affiliation, which is up from 22% a decade ago. 33% of the portion of Gener- ation Z (people born 1997 to 2012) that have reached adulthood have no religious preference. What these num- bers show is the church is in rapid decline. The reason for the decline is simple: church leaders have surrendered to the culture. Churches are abandoning the faith once delivered to the saints and are embracing the culture with its focus on the "me" and affirming "my" self-indulgent lifestyle. Jesus is no longer presented as the only way to God. Pseudo-science, woke- ness, and cancel culture has replaced the power of change through the Holy spirit. In many churches, young peo- ple will never hear a sermon about repentance from sin. In- stead, they will hear a sermon on God affirms you and loves you in all your expressions. God's professing church is alive and well. It will neVer die! There is a major difference between someone who says they believe in God/Jesus and a disciple of Jesus Christ. Jesus says it pointedly: Mat- thew 7:21 "not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." you have read my state of the church address. are you doing the father's will? Morris dermatology in Vin- cennes and for once the doc- tor looked me over and al- though I did have places for them to look at there wasn't any of them that caused enough concern to work with them so we'll wait until next year. Took life easy for the rest of the day and it felt good to take it easy. The wind blew so hard it kept us up a lot during Wednesday night. If I ever move from our home in Crest- view I hope I have enough sense to not have a tree with- in 200 feet of our house. I have had many nights of wind wondering if a tree was going to be blown over. Our regular Lions meet- ing is always on the second Thursday of the month. We meet at randy's and we strive to help others in this world who could use a help- ing hand. Our funding comes from several different fund raising events during the year. We have recently taken on helping at Pike Central with items we donate to Ma- son's general store. We were given a tour of this store as we took donations once. If you need a recipient for your donations or your fundraising ideas, they could always use the help. Our sunday school lesson covered a subject we should do our best to overcome, but one that is hard not to give in to. The subject was wor- ry and how much our worry was fruitless which could not change the circumstanc- es any at all except possibly make you more miserable. your worrying about your fu- ture can sure destroy the hap- piness you may have today. Learn to lean on Jesus and the Holy Father for your help and try to leave your worry at the foot of the cross. The Montgomery Family was at church for morning worship and provided an excellent message in song. One song I really took to heart was if you have something God is ask- ing of you through an inspira- tion you should not allow out- side interference influence you not to do something just go ahead with your dreams and accomplishments for Je- sus. Well it is time to close, so remember to go out to be a blessing and reap the bless- ings as they are offered.
