Entertainment Now | February 11 - 17, 2023 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON APPLE TV+ "Hello Tomorrow!" - Season 1 Look towards the future with the new Apple TV+ Original series "Hello Tomorrow!" when it pre- mieres on the streamer Friday, Feb. 17. Set in a retro-future world, the series centers around a group of traveling salesmen who are ped - dling lunar timeshares. At the cen- ter of it all is Jack (played by Billy Crudup, "The Morning Show"), a talented salesman who is chock- full of ambition. He brings with him an unshakeable faith in a brighter future that inspires his co-workers and gives some much-needed life to his desperate customers. How - ever, Jack's boundless optimism threatens to leave him dangerous- ly lost in his own dreams. Directed by Jonathan Entwistle ("I Am Not Okay With This"), "Hello Tomor- row!" is penned by Lucas Jansen ("The Take Off," 2018), Amit Bhalla ("Iago," 2019), Stephen Falk ("You're The Worst"), Jiehae Park ("Runaways"), Wes Brown ("Fear the Walking Dead") and Olivia Milch ("Ocean's Eight," 2018). The cast is rounded out by Haneefah Wood ("Truth Be Told"), Alison Pill ("Star Trek: Picard"). "Sharper" (2023) The secrets and lies of New York's elite bubble to the surface in the new drama film "Sharper," premiering on Apple TV+ Friday, Feb. 17. No one is ever really who they seem to be in this neo-noir thriller, as a con artist sets the ball rolling in a high-stakes game of greed, ambition, lust and jealousy that plays out through the gleam- ing halls of 5th avenue while he sets out to profit off of Manhat- tan's ultra-wealthy. The stars mak- ing up "Sharper's" main cast in- clude Julianne Moore ("Still Alice," 2014), Sebastian Stan ("Pam & Tommy"), Justice Smith ("Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," 2018), Briana Middleton ("The Tender Bar," 2021) and John Lithgow ("The World According to Garp," 1982). Written for the screen by Brian Gatewood ("Superstore") and Alessandro Tanaka ("Animal Practice"), the film is directed by Benjamin Caron ("The Crown"). WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX "The Upshaws" - Season 3 The comedic saga of one aver- age American family continues on Netflix when Season 3 of "The Up- shaws," premieres Thursday, Feb. 16. Set in Indianapolis, the series follows The Upshaws, a working- class, blended family, through their daily lives as family patriarch Ben- nie (Mike Epps, "Dolemite Is My Name," 2019) tries to find peace while raising his four kids — Ber- nard Jr. (Jermelle Simon, "So- journ," 2018), Kelvin (Diamond Ly- ons, "Colin in Black & White"), Aa- liyah (Khali Spraggins, "Empire") and Maya (Journey Christine, "Let it Snow," 2019) — and balancing his relationships with his wife, Re- gina (Kim Fields, "The Facts of Life"), and ex Tasha (Gabrielle Den- nis, "A Black Lady Sketch Show"). Meanwhile, Bennie's perpetually unimpressed sister-in-law, Lucretia (Wanda Sykes, "Monster-in-Law," 2005), keeps an eye on them all. Heading into Season 3, "the Up- shaws continue to ride life's ups and downs, including new jobs, bigger dreams, health struggles and some major life surprises but still hanging on with the love that comes with family" (per Netflix). Created by Regina Y. Hicks ("Girl- friends") and series star Wanda Sykes, "The Upshaws" also stars Page Kennedy ("S.W.A.T.," 2003), Michel Estime ("Last Holiday," 2006). "Full Swing" - Season 1 Golf fans will have the opportu- nity to peek behind the scenes of the sport like never before in the new docuseries "Full Swing," pre- miering on Netflix Wednesday, Feb. 15. This immersive documentary follows a diverse group of profes- sional golfers on and off the course through all the triumphs and chal- lenges of a relentless competition season. As they take on the non- stop, high-stakes schedule of the PGA Tour, cameras follow the golf- ers, their families and their teams as they train for and play in The Players, The Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and FedEX- Cup Playoffs. Across the series' eight episodes, fans see what it takes to succeed at the highest lev- el of men's professional golf. "Full Swing" features appearances from some of the biggest names in the sport alongside some relative new- comers, including Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Mito Pereira, Tony Finau, Joel Dahmen, Matt Fitzpatrick and Sahith Theegala, as well as Ian Poulter, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Joaquin Nie- mann, who have since left the PGA to Join LIV Golf. "Unlocked" (2023) The gripping new Korean thriller "Unlocked," premiering Friday, Feb. 17, on Netflix, tells the tale of how an ordinary woman's en- tire life is changed by her phone. Na-Mi (Chun Woo-Hee, "Mello- ga Chejil"), like many people in the modern world, keeps her whole life in the palm of her hand — in her phone. When she loses it on her way home from work one day, it seems like her lucky day when a well-meaning citizen, Jun- yeong (Yim Si-wan, "The King Loves"), returns it to her. But little does she know, he's installed spy- ware onto her phone and is now tracking her every move to learn everything he can about her. As Jun-yeoung learns more about her whereabouts, hobbies, tastes, work life, finances and social net- work, Na-Mi's life spirals out of control in ways she never could have imagined. Based on the novel by Akira Shiga, "Unlocked" is di- rected by Tae-joon Kim in his direc- torial debut.
