Brainerd Dispatch • October 30 - November 5, 2022 •19 "The Devil's Hour" - Season 1 Prime keeps the season's thrills and chills coming with its newest thriller, "The Devil's Hour," making its premiere Friday, Oct. 28. Every single night, Lucy (Jessica Raine, "Becoming Elizabeth") is awoken by terrifying visions at exactly 3:33 a.m. — the devil's hour. Surrounded by strange occurrences and a house that seems to be haunted by the echoes of a life that isn't her own, Lucy's world is in shambles. But when her name is inexplicably connected to a string of brutal murders in town, Lucy may finally get the answers to questions that have plagued her for years. Unfortu- nately, she winds up in the middle of a police manhunt in the process. Written for the screen by Tom Moran ("The Feed"), "The Devil's Hour" is directed by Johnny Allan ("The Irregulars") and Isabelle Sieb ("Vigil"). The series also stars Peter Capaldi ("Doctor Who"), Nikesh Patel ("Starstruck"), Phil Dunster ("Ted Lasso"), Ramanique Ahluwalia ("Takeover"), Meera Syal ("Yes- terday," 2019), Muki Zubis ("Shadow and Bone"), Alex Ferns ("Andor"), Kim Allan ("The Replacement"), Barbara Marten ("The Turning," 2020), Kyle Rowe ("Raven's Hollow," 2022), Thomas Dominique ("Wrath of Man," 2021), Sandra Huggett ("Coronation Street") and new talent Cecilia Blair. "Run Sweetheart Run" (2022) Finally releasing worldwide following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020, the horror thriller "Run Sweetheart Run" makes its debut Friday, Oct. 28, on Prime. Nervous to take on a meeting with one of her company's most important clients at the insistence of her boss, single mother Cherie (Ella Balinska, "Charlie's Angels," 2019) is relieved and excited to meet char- ismatic Ethan (Pilous Asbaek, "Game of Thrones"), who defies all of her expectations and sweeps Cherie off her feet. But at the end of the night, when the pair are finally alone, Ethan's true, violent nature comes to light. Battered, terrified and caught in the crosshairs of a strange, dark conspiracy, Cherie fights for her life in a relentless and cruel game of cat-and-mouse with a blood-thirsty assailant. Directed by Shana Feste ("Dirty Diana"), "Run Sweetheart Run" is written by Feste, Keith Josef Adkins ("For the People") and Kellee Terrell ("Goodnight My Love," 2012). The film's cast is rounded out by Clark Gregg ("Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."), Shohreh Aghdashloo ("The Expanse"), Dayo Okeniyi ("Rise," 2022), Amar Sotomayor ("StartUp"), Amanda Jaros ("1883"), Amy Doyle ("2 Die For," 2018), Bran- don Molale ("Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story," 2004), Ava Grey ("Atlanta"), Sagan Rose ("Silhouette," 2016), Briana Lane ("General Hospital"), Kaitlyn Ray- mond ("Club Life," 2015) and Sigrid Owen ("A Call to Spy," 2019). "All Quiet on the Western Front" (2022) Take some time to reflect on the past with the new anti-war epic "All Quiet on the Western Front," pre- miering Friday, Oct. 28, on Netflix. Set in 1917 wartime Germany, the film follows Paul Bäumer (Felix Kam- merer, "David im Wunderland," 1998), a German teenager who lies about his age so that he's able to enlist alongside his friends. While all the young men's heads are filled will romanticized notions of patriotism and honor, the events that follow their enlistment dis- mantle their preconceptions about the glories of war almost immediately. Thrown into the trenches with too little equipment and less-than-adequate training, Paul embarks on a desperate journey to survive and keep everyone else around him alive. Directed by Edward Berger ("Jack," 2014) with a screenplay by Berger, Lesley Paterson ("Cosmic Radio," 2007) and Ian Stokell ("Life in an Instant: 8 Seconds," 2018), the film is based on the 1929 bestselling novel of the same name by Er - ich Maria Remarque. The cast is rounded out by Daniel Brühl ("The Alienist"), Albrecht Schuch ("Berlin Alex- anderplatz," 2020), Sebastian Hülk ("Hanna," 2011), Edin Hasanovic ("Je Suis Karl," 2021), Anton von Lucke ("Frantz," 2016), David Striesow ("The Counterfeit- ers," 2007), Joe Weintraub ("Jojo Rabbit," 2019), Peter Sikorski ("Charlie's Angels," 2019) and Dominikus Weileder ("Isi & Ossi," 2020). "Drink Masters" - Season 1 Shake things up with the season's newest competition show — this time, with a twist. Netflix's new series, "Drink Masters," premiering Friday, Oct. 28, follows 12 of the world's most innovative mixologists as they showcase their spirited knowledge and dazzling cocktail-crafting expertise through weeks of skill- testing challenges, infusing, stirring and blending their creations to perfection. At the end of the competition, only one mixologist will take home the series' grand prize: $100,000 cash and the title of Ultimate Drink Master. Hosted by Tone Bell ("The United States vs. Billie Holiday," 2021), the fate of the competitors lies in the hands of judges Julie Reiner ("Hey Bartender," 2013), mixologist, author and owner of Clover Club, and Frankie Solarik, author of "The Bar Chef" and co-owner of Toronto's BarChef. "Blown Away's" Matt Hornburg and Donna Luke, "Bar Rescue's" Tim Warren and new producer Mark Bishop executive produce the series.
