The North Carolina Teacher of the Year program is open to all charter schools in North Carolina. The process for selection is the same as for all other traditional public schools. Charter schools are able to select one teacher each year to represent their school in the regional competition. Mrs. Long is the fi ne arts teacher for students in 6th- 12th grades. Mrs. Long has been a teacher at Lake Lure Classical Academy since the school opened in 2010. Lake Lure Classical Academy congratulates Layne Long for her outstanding contributions to the school and to the teaching profession. It is the hope of the school that she is selected to move onto the next round in the Teacher of the Year competition.
