Vanessa Lachey plays the chief of this Naval Criminal Investigative Service unit, Jane Tennant, who struggles to keep a balance between her family life and her professional duties. Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami and Tori Anderson are among those cast as members of her team, and a crossover story involves such actors from the parent "NCIS" as Wilmer Valderrama and Katrina Law. The show's second season is slated to premiere (with another "NCIS" crossover) Sept. 19. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) "PARADISE HIGHWAY" Oscar winner Juliette Binoche has an atypically gritty role as a trucker who reluctantly becomes involved in human trafficking to protect her brother (Frank Grillo, "Billions") from a lethal gang in this melodrama. She's forced to transport a youngster (Hala Finley, formerly of the series "Man With a Plan"), and in doing so, she also has to outrun an FBI agent (fellow Oscar recipient Morgan Freeman) who's determined to track her in order to dismantle the highly illegal operation. Cameron Monaghan ("Shameless") also appears. DVD extras: theatrical trailer: "making-of" documentary; audio commentary by writer-director Anna Gutto; deleted scenes. ››› (R: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray and On Demand) "CHICAGO P.D.: SEASON NINE" Executive producer Dick Wolf's NBC police drama will be nearing its 200th episode when it starts its 10th season Sept. 21. This round puts emphasis on the connection between team leader Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and one of his informants, Anna (Carmela Zumbado), but it starts with the intense search for abducted detective Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). One episode is a tour de force for co-star Tracy Spiridakos, whose Hailey Upton – who has a big personal development linked to colleague Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) – is unable to save someone from a submerged car, leading to a much larger investigation. Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins and Amy Morton also are cast regulars. ››› (Not rated: AS, P, V) "YOUNG SHELDON: THE COMPLETE FIFTH SEASON" The sitcom prequel to "The Big Bang Theory" continued its very successful CBS run with a season that starts with a health crisis for George (Lance Barber). Other household changes also affect son Sheldon (Iain Armitage), who grapples with the realization that he doesn't have an answer for everything, thanks to the unpredictability of nature. Melissa Joan Hart and Shiri Appleby ("Roswell") directed episodes; regular cast members also include Zoe Perry, Raegan Revord, Montana Jordan and Annie Potts. Among recurring guest stars are Reba McEntire, Wendie Malick, Wallace Shawn, Craig T. Nelson, Melissa Peterman, Emily Osment and Ed Begley Jr. Simon Helberg and Mayim Bialik resurface in their "Big Bang" roles, with Jim Parsons narrating the show as the adult Sheldon. ››› (Not rated: AS) "WHEN WE WERE APOLLO" That's "Apollo" as in the manned space program by that name, whose history is traced in this documentary. As those who know their history will recall, that series of flights had its setbacks as well as its triumphs ... landing men on the moon for the first time with the Apollo 11 mission, but also necessitating emergency measures when the later Apollo 13 crew faced in- flight problems. This recollection focuses not only on the astronauts who went into orbit, but also the scientists and engineers whose know-how back on Earth enabled the undertaking of an amazing journey figuratively and literally. A number of those individuals are shown here, offering their present-day perspectives on what they accomplished then. ››› (Not rated) "STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE – THE DIRECTOR'S EDITION" Though fans of the franchise have had mixed views of the first theatrical spinoff ever since its 1979 release, they're likely to welcome the film's debut in the 4K Ultra HD format, especially when it comes to director Robert Wise's ("The Sound of Music") majestic depiction of the retrofitted starship Enterprise when it's first seen here. James T. Kirk (William Shatner) gets command of the vessel again to investigate a strange force that appears to be swallowing ships whole, and the mission also involves the return of Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) after a hiatus to reconnect with his Vulcan roots. Original television cast members DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols, James Doohan and Walter Koenig also are back, with Stephen Collins and Persis Khambatta as major additions. Among the special features here is a longer cut of the film that was prepared for TV. The picture is available on 4K separately or in a six-movie set including all the theatrical attractions with the original "crew." ››› (G: AS, V) Leonard Nimoy "It never ceases to amaze me the ways in which we overcomplicate things sometimes, too. I would say nine times out of 10, we're going to put egg in something that does not need egg." – Zach Kornfeld of "No-Recipe Road Trip With the Try Guys" on Food Network " m w s s w i n K R G "When we said goodbye to New Zealand, we didn't know the second season was going to be shot in London. I miss the New Zealand experience hugely, and because of COVID and other things, it was very powerful for us to all be together there." – Lloyd Owen of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" on Prime Video " to k w L Z a o p to O R o "I have a writing partner now, and we just completed our first script.
