Vermont St. #206 Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 John T. Martin, Evansville Courier & Press Ryan Reynolds was named interim executive editor of the Evansville Courier & Press and Henderson Gleaner, as Cindi Andrews leaves to take a management role at the Indianapolis Star. Andrews, 53, is the new senior news director at the Star, where she will report to executive editor Bro Krift. Before coming to Evansville in January 2021, she worked at the Denver Post and Cincinnati Enquirer. The moves were announced to the local newsroom staffs by Mary Irby-Jones, Midwest Regional Editor of USA TODAY Network. "Cindi, who rejoined the company nearly two years ago as editor of the Courier & Press and The Gleaner will leave some big shoes for the next editor to fill," Irby-Jones said. "We will begin a national search immedi- ately for her replacement." Reynolds, 44, is a Boonville native and University of Southern Indiana graduate. He joined the Courier & Press in 1998 and has been sports edi- tor, features editor, metro editor and, most recently, news direc- tor for the Courier & Press and The Gleaner. He lives on Evansville's North Side and also has resided on the West Side and in Mount Vernon. Reynolds was a member of the Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors board for eight years and held offices in that organization including president. Andrews said she's proud of what the Evansville and Henderson newsrooms accom- plished during her 18 months here. Some of that work, Andrews said, included Tom Langhorne's reporting on financial manage- ment and a sexual harassment case settlement involving the of the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office, as well as Mark Wilson's stories on a Vanderburgh County judge's use of a private probation-services company whose high fees led to probation violations and jail time for those unable to pay. Andrews noted Reynolds' lengthy local news career and said he is well-prepared to lead the Courier & Press and Gleaner staffs. "Ryan has been in this com- munity and of this community. He's done just about every job here. I'm excited to have been able to help him develop and get to a place where he feels confident stepping up and taking the opportunity he deserves and will excel at." Irby-Jones said Andrews will be an asset to the Star. "Cindi's new role will allow her to continue the strong local and watchdog journalism that the newspapers have been able to accomplish under her lead- ership. The Indianapolis Star is one of the most important newspapers in our company and having Cindi assume a senior leadership role there is really important as that newsroom works to continue its stellar his- tory of Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalism."
