C O M 18 | 2021 READERS CHOICE AWARDS | FEBRUARY 17, 2022 Moreland Notre Dame School Moreland Notre Dame School Best Private School K-8 133 Brennan St. Watsonville 831-728-2051 www.mndschool.org get a monthly 'back facial' which is es- sentially an hour-long back and shoulder massage with beautiful creams, mists, and hot stones, and a wonderful CBD cream. It's nice for one's back to get moisturizing and attention." These treat- ments, which greatly help her body and mind, are "…super relaxing and nurtur- ing. Deann is an incredible, professional, and highly talented esthetician. She is really sweet too. I have come to depend on my appointments, especially during this crazy time, to help calm and center me. I always feel balanced and glowing when I leave." Anna Guagnini, who is in her eighties, has been Deann's customer for 12 years. She visits The Studio Spa about once ev- ery three or four weeks. "The services of- fered are always tops," she says. "Deann is very caring and detail oriented." It's clear that Sentinel readers voted Deann Best Esthetician for a number of reasons, as mentioned above. "Maybe I was voted Best Esthetician because I put all of myself into my work," says Deann. "I am not just trying to make a living. I deeply, truly care for my clients' experience and skin health. My passion is creating an experience that exceeds expectations, raising the perception of the Esthetic Industry through integrity, dedication, education, and commitment." I asked Deann about safety measures in place, especially with our current environment. She replied, "I have always taken pride in my cleanliness and sanitation." She performed 'COVID-level protocols' even before the pandemic. Once the pandemic began, the addi- tional measures she took were creating more time between appointments and expanding prescreening. "With the smaller space, my sterile environment stays that way until I return." When booking appointments at The Studio Spa, Deann asks customers to please be patient. "Because our guests are spaced out appropriately, last-minute appointments are not often available. You can expect to be treated with the same care if it's your first time or hun- dredth time. You will feel like you are the only person that matters that day." "Getting voted best day spa is the best compliment I can think of. When Katie and I provide individual or simultaneous appointments for couples, friends, or mothers and daughters, the responses and sighs of relaxation say it all. Living up to the career path we have chosen, improving wellness, relaxation, better- ing health. This is our purpose. We feel The Studio Spa stands out for our treat- ments and products used, environment, safety protocols, and experience." Well Within Owner Eric Heckert is honored that readers voted Well Within (wellwithins- pa.com) the runner-up for Best Day Spa. He has been a part of 'the Well' (as he refers to it) since 1996. "I believe people voted for 'the Well' because it has been a part of this com- munity for so long and continues to focus on providing a safe, quiet place for people to slow down and let go," says Eric. Well Within first opened in 1985, at the original location not far from the current Cedar Street site. Customers who want to book time in a spa room can choose between private indoor and outdoor rooms. Each indoor room has a view of a traditional Japanese garden with a waterfall and koi pond. There is a spa with jets, and some rooms feature cedar-lined saunas. The outdoor rooms also have the option of a sauna. continues on 20 continued from 16
