POWELL CF Media michael@cfmedia.info Pam Sharts, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Hospice of Cleveland County (HCC), said of their Friday, Dec. 10 fundraiser titled, "Lighting the Way" that over 300 luminaries were sold for this year's event. The 6 to 9 p.m. event was sponsored by Livent and Gragg Financial, she said, adding the luminaries are important to folks because "…the holidays bring memories of times past and anticipation of holidays yet to come. Memories are our way to hold on to the people we love, and the holiday season is a beautiful time to reflect on the happy times we shared with those so dear to our heart." Each year, HCC gives indi- viduals an opportunity to honor and remember special loved ones, friends, and favorite pets at their annual "Lighting the Way" Fundraiser. For each con- tribution of $10, Sharts said a luminary is placed on the Court Square in Uptown Shelby, with each luminary being labeled with the name of the individ- ual or pet to be remembered. Special military luminaries were also available, she noted. Ms. Sharts noted for those who may have missed the event but would like to make a dona- tion to "Lighting the Way", to please call (704) 751-3573. "Participation in 'Lighting the Way' helps Hospice Cleveland County enhance the lives of individuals and families by bringing hope, dignity, and com- passion when they need it most and allows them to spend their final months wherever they call home, surrounded by their loved ones," she said. Sharts continued, "Thank you to all our volunteers and to every- one who supported our 'Lighting the Way' Fundraiser in Uptown Shelby." She added, "Programs are available at the Hospice Administration Building, located at 951 Wendover Heights Drive in Shelby. Thank you also to Livent and Gragg Financial for sponsoring this event. Proceeds support the general operations of Hospice Cleveland County. Again, thank you for your sup- port!" Hospice accepts individuals of all ages with any life-lim- iting illness, such as cancer, emphysema, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease and debil- ity and decline. Referrals may be made by the patient, a fam- ily member, physician, minis- ter, friend – anyone who cares. Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance fund most Hospice care, however, services are pro- vided regardless of ability to pay.
