It's such a wonderful, exciting time of year. But maybe after all of the presents are opened the small people in your household are growing a bit restless. It's times like these that you may hear the words that every parent and grandparent dreads: "I'm bored." If this scenario sounds familiar, the Kings Mountain Historical Museum (KMHM) has a terrific diversion for your young ones – and for adults as well. The museum's 19th Annual Toys, Games and Trains Exhibit is taking place now through Friday, January 7, 2022. Best of all, admission is free. "This year we are pleased that the local 'S' Gaugers – model train enthusiasts – have once again filled the museum with model train displays that they assembled," says January Costa, KMHM director and curator. "We also have all kinds of railroad memora- bilia, antique toys and games." Costa says that parents and grandparents often enjoy reminisc- ing about the toys and games of their childhood on display in the exhibit. For many, the train exhibit has become a holiday tradition. "We have lots of people who come to see the trains every year, and we welcome you back this year," says Costa. "And, If you've never come to see the trains before, this is the perfect year to be introduced to the excitement of a Kings Mountain holiday must- see!" "We find that visitors of all ages are enchanted by the miniature snow-covered scenes that line the tracks, and they just delight in discovering the interactive carousel, hot air balloons and mailbag pickup," says Costa. KMHM is located at 100 E. Mountain St., Kings Mountain. Exhibit hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The exhibit will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. More information is available by visiting the KMHM website at www.kingsmountainmuseum.org, by calling the museum at 704- 739-1019, or by emailing Costa at kmhmdirector@outlook.com.
