The outdoor recreation industry was one of the very first to be hit hard. With the demand for outdoor activities skyrocketing, bicycles were no excep- tion. This has given REM Bicycle and Fitness more opportunity to do what they love, help customers experience the joy of bicycling and achieve their fitness goals. Located just north of the Jasper Courthouse Square, REM bicycle has been a staple in the varied two-wheel, man-powered genre in the Dubois County region for more than 30 years. Owner Ethan Trusty started working for Paul Gasser in 2010 and it was under Gasser's guidance that Trusty learned not only the selling and servicing of bikes and fitness equipment, but also how to run a business. A fter 30 years in business, Gasser retired and Trusty took over ownership of the business. He changed the name to REM Bicycle and Fitness to better communicate all that the business offers. REM Bicycle Center was started in 1989 in the basement of a one-room shop on the southeast corner of the Jas- per Courthouse Square. The founding principal of REM is that bicycles bring benefits to individual's lives and a posi- tive impact on the community. Quickly outgrowing the small room, REM moved to its current location at 804 Main Street in Jasper, just off the square. Since opening, it has been the mission of REM to provide their cus- tomers with excellent service and qual- ity bikes. Thirty years later, REM Bi- cycle and Fitness, continues to make it their mission that every rider has a great experience. In 2019, Trusty took over as owner after working with Gas- ser for more than a decade. Trusty and his wife, Kenzie, live in Huntingburg, where they raise their two children, Amelia, 6, and Barrett, 2. They enjoy spending time with fami- ly, serving in their local church and go- ing on family bike rides. It is Trusty and his family's goal with REM to continue what Gasser started back in 1989 and carried on through 2019: selling quality bicycles and fit- ness equipment, and offering excellent service. Trusty strives to do this all for the purpose of honoring God, that He would receive glory from all that is do- ne at REM. Trusty said, "REM Bicycle and Fit- ness is here to serve their customers and help them with their bicycle and fit- ness needs. Visit or contact REM to see how we can help you today. We are lo- cated two blocks north of the square in Jasper at 804 Main Street." REM offers a wide range of Trek bikes and is your fitness headquarters for True equipment, including tread- mills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and strength equipment. Shop hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fri- day from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sat- urday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. They are closed Thursdays and Sundays.
