There are courses that add mud to raise the level of difficulty. Others add obstacles like climbing walls, water hazards, or zombies. A few add two or three of the above, like the Tuff eNuff run that will take place on July 4 in Oneonta's Neahwa Park. (Hint: There won't be any zombies. Probably.) The appeal of these non-standard runs can be hard to figure out at first. Who enjoys being chased by the undead or pushing through mud? Runner Amy Burnsworth drove up to Albany for the Color Me Rad 5K last fall. During the race, runners travel through color stations where they are hit with "color bombs." The bombs are filled with a chalky substance that covers the runner in color. By the end of the course, it looks like you've run through a rainbow. "There were a lot families, there were a lot of high school and college students," Burnsworth said, when asked who would want to do such an event. " Just about anybody could participate in and have fun. There was no pressure. What I liked about it was doing it with my daughter and that there was no pressure to beat any personal bests. It was just good, clean fun," she said without any apparent trace of irony. Burnsworth and her daughter had such a great time that they intend to do it again this fall. This year, however, they might wear costumes, after noticing how many runners wore tutus and fairy wings. "I feel like we should do tennis dresses," she said. "Anything light that really gets
