A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Hugh and Carolyn Ivey Camp. In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Marie Camp. He is survived by many extended family members. Graveside services were held September 14, 2021 in Elizabeth Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Stroup officiating. He was born December 3, 1954 in Cleveland County to the late Howard Dean and Vera Lee Laws Jones. Mr. Jones served our country in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his son, Josh Jones. Survivors include his son, Austin Brent Jones of Shelby; daughter, Amber (Jones) Rauch and hus- band, Dale of Gastonia; and brothers, Don Jones and wife, Markie, Dee Jones and wife, Susan, and Mike Jones and wife, Barbara. BOBBY GENE WELLS Bobby Gene Wells, 89, of Shelby, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Born in Cleveland County on April 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Wells and Sally Kendrick Wells. Mr. Wells served our coun- try in the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his wife, Lillie Marie Clark Wells; two brothers, Thomas Wells and Grady Wells; and one sister, Ethel Putnam. Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Whisnant and husband, Steve and Carol Morrison and husband, Johnnie all of Polkville; brother, Billy Wells of Spindale; and four grand- children and three great grandchildren. The Graveside Service was held on September 15, 2021 at Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Scott and Rev. Ken Gibson officiating, with Military Honors. HARRY DOUGLAS CATES Harry Douglas Cates, 78, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on September 12, 2021. He was born in Orange County, NC, son of the late Marion Rosevelt and Nellie Mae Merritt Cates and was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Cates. Mr. Cates served our coun- try in the US Army during Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Jerrie Randall Cates, of the home; sisters: Jean Cates Coleman and Hilda Holloway and hus- band, Sterling. BEN H. KISER, SR. Ben H. Kiser Sr., 94, of Shelby, passed way on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Ben was the son of Ralph and Junie Kiser of Shelby. Mr. Kiser served our coun- try in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Ben was preceded in death by his par- ents, his six siblings, Ralph, Lloyd, and Bill Kiser, Hazel Kiser Wilson, Betty Whisnant, and Shirley Strickland; his first wife and the mother of his five children, Alice Faye Blanton Kiser Hager; his wife, Grace Kiser, and his two children Sherri Kiser and Jason Kiser. Ben is survived by his chil- dren: Kay Wallace and hus- band, Tony, Ben Kiser Jr and wife, Deidre, David Kiser and wife, Kathy, Rosemary Clark, Lib Smith and husband Jim, Johnny Rice and wife Cindy, Nancy Staley and husband Joe, Donna Torsiello and husband Mel; his twenty grandchildren; thirty-seven great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grand- children.
