The Chargers had two fumbles, two incomplete passes and two nice kick-off returns, one for 35 yards, made by Char- ger sophomore Julian Gish, and one for 24 yards, made by Charger junior Braden How- ald. The first quarter ended with the Raiders having the lead at 28 -0. During the second quarter, the Chargers faced much of the same. The Raiders made 27, 37, 21 and 14-yard runs, all four with good kicks, along with a safety. The Chargers continued to push on, with three interceptions and a sev- en-yard pass. However, the Chargers had picked up some momentum with Matthew Meadows, freshman quarter- back, throwing a good 26 -yard pass, and Howald having a im- pressive kickoff return of 45 yards, leaving the score at 51- 0, Southridge's lead. In the third quarter, the Chargers seemed to pull to- gether and fight to hold the Raiders at 51-0 throughout the quarter and into the fourth quarter. The hold was broken with 4:25 left on the clock in the fourth quarter when Southridge's Kamren Neu- kam made a touchdown on a five-yard run, followed by a good PAT. The game ended with a score of 58 -0 in favor of the Raiders. Unfortunate- ly, it was a replay of last year's game. The stats by game's end were: passing Meadows 4-14 for a total of 40 yards with four interceptions; Rushing: How- ald with eight carries totaling 21 yards, junior Jagar Dent with four carries for a total of 16 yards, Meadows with sev- en carries for a total of -17 yards and Gish with one car- ry for a total of eight yards; Re- ceiving: Gish had three recep- tions with a total of 34 yards and freshman Arie O'Neal had one reception with a to- tal of six yards; Kick Returns: Gish with one return for 37 yards and Howald with 6 re- turns for a total of 72 yards; Punts: Gish had four punts for a total of 134 yards, with the longest being 40 yards. The tackle leaders for the game were junior Isaac Marchino, senior Sammy Coleman and junior Corey Goeppner. The Pike Central Chargers' next game will be against the Washington Hatchets on Pike Central's home field at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 17.
