1926: L.A. Anger Sr. sold the farm the family had worked since their arrival in 1896. He built a house and
small store where Gulf Coast Hardware is today on State Road 776. (Some family members changed the family
name to Ainger)
1925: Englewood's first bank, located on Old
Englewood Road, opened. It was short-lived, as the
cashier, Mr. Abner Silkey, soon absconded with the
funds.
