1916: Having bought the Nichols Brothers store on Yale Street,
the Buchans built a new store and post office on the corner of
what is now Old Englewood Road and West Dearborn.
Buchan used the sharpie rigged schooner, the J.W.
Booth, captained by Hamp Lampp, to bring in
supplies, mostly from Tampa.

e complex was dubbed Buchan's Landing, as
the town's supplies were "landed" on their long
dock. It remains today as one of the two most
historical buildings in town.
