Brainerd Dispatch • May 16 - 22, 2021 •19 By Raye Smith TV Media WHAT'S NEW ON NETFLIX Army of the Dead Rise to the occasion with Zack Snyder's new, highly anticipated zombie heist movie, "Army of the Dead," set to release in select theaters and on Netflix, on Friday, May 21. After a zombie outbreak that left Las Vegas in ruins and closed off from the rest of the world, Scott Ward (Dave Bautista, "Avengers: Endgame") and his team of mercenaries head into the quarantined city to pull off the biggest heist of their lives before the government bombs it in 32 hours. Facing off against a smarter, faster and more organized breed of zombies, the mercenaries work to get into a notoriously difficult vault and back out of the city with their money and their lives. Star- ring alongside Bautista are Ella Purnell ("Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children," 2016), Ana de la Reguera ("Narcos"), Theo Rossi ("Luke Cage"), Garret Dillahunt ("12 Years a Slave," 2013), Omari Hardwick ("Kickass," 2010), Tig Notaro ("Transparent"), Hiroyuki Sanada ("Westworld"), Matthias Schweighöfer ("You Are Wanted"), Raúl Castillo ("Vida"), Nora Arne- zeder ("Safe House," 2012) and Samantha Win ("Wonder Woman," 2017). Who Killed Sara? Season 2 What everyone really wants to know is: "Who Killed Sara?" Audiences are still finding out, but the thrilling saga continues with Season 2, set to debut on Netflix on Wednesday, May 19. Season 1 of the popular Mexican crime thriller focuses on Sara's (Ximena Lama- drid, "On the Rocks," 2020) brother, Alex Guzman (Manolo Cardona, "Narcos"), as he seeks revenge on the powerful Lazcano family for framing him for his sister's murder. The mystery gets deeper as more secrets unravel and Alex uncovers more secrets about his sister's life and relationships nearly two de- cades ago. Continue to unravel the mystery of Sara's murder with Alex when José Ignacio Valenzuela's ("La Familia de al Lado") thriller series continues. Special - Season 2 Have your heart stolen with Season 2 of "Special" when in airs Thurs- day, May 20 on Netflix. This smart, hilarious and down-to-earth com- edy is based on the 2015 memoir "I'm Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves," by Ryan O'Connell, who also executive produces, writes and stars in the series. Sea- son 1 followed the main character, Ryan Hayes (Ryan O'Connell), a young gay man with cerebral palsy as he steps into independence and finds himself while starting an in- tense unpaid internship. Featuring interactions with his mother, Karen (Jessica Hecht, "Friends"), and his co-workers, the season's eight 15-minute episodes each pack a punch, and Season 2 is bound to do the same. This unique and heartwarming series also stars Pu- nam Patel ("Space Force"), Marla Mindelle ("The Nomads," 2019), Augustus Prew ("About a Boy," 2002) and Patrick Fabian ("Better Call Saul") and features original se- ries music by "Baskets" composer Joshua Moshier. Jurassic World: Camp Creta- ceous - Season 3 Get wild with the Season 3 pre- miere of "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous," coming to Netflix on Friday, May 21. This fun, computer- animated action-adventure series continues, following six teens at Camp Cretaceous on Isla Nublar. When dinosaurs get loose and wreak havoc on the island, the teens have to work together to survive this once-in-a-lifetime ad- venture. Set in the Jurassic Park uni- verse, Season 1 of the series was set during the same timeframe as the 2015 "Jurassic World" film. In Sea- son 2, with the island abandoned and the cast on their own, they had to fight to survive and learn to live with the dinosaurs until help arrived. Now, Season 3 continues following main characters Darius (voiced by Paul-Mikél Williams, "Westworld"), Ben (voiced by Sean Giambrone, "The Goldbergs"), Yas- mina (voiced by Kausar Moham- med, "What Men Want," 2019), Brooklynn (voiced by Jenna Ortega, "Elena of Avalor"), Sammy (voiced by Raini Rodriguez, "Austin & Ally") and Kenji (voiced by Ryan Potter, "Big Hero 6," 2014) as they explore Jurassic World — and hopefully avoid a T-Rex or two.
