He also wound up on the wrong end of a class action suit accusing him and his companies of rape, sexual as- sault and sex trafficking dating back to the 1970s. "American Idol" (ABC — season premiere, Feb. 14) After last season's com- petition was forced to "go remote" because of the CO- VID-19 pandemic, Season 19 of this music competition (its fourth on ABC) resumes live coverage, with judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Perry. Ryan Seacrest returns as host, as does in-house mentor Bobby Bones. Produc- ers began virtual auditions for prospective contestants last August via custom-built Zoom technology. Candidates who made it past that stage performed for the socially distanced judges in a limited number of audition cities.
