A incredible story of Jackie Robinson The rts & Entertainment Page 4 April 19, 2013 Now we are able to see Jackie's struggles as he changed the world boring moment. The movie was filled with action packed moments from the baseball game scenes. The movie "42" also had many dramatic moments that were caused by the segregation moments. "42" does have flaws like toward the end it feels a little forced. I would recommend this movie to all age groups. Young children will love the sports parts just as much as the adults will love the struggles that Jackie Robinson had to face and the passion he has for the sport. In many people's eyes today Jackie Robinson is a hero and his name stands for something bigger than just a game, but for all men being created equal. Tymberlyn Bealer Staff Writer The movie "42" told the amazing story of Jackie Robinson and was directed by Brian Helgeland. Also, this movie features Chadwick Boseman who plays the main character Jackie Robinson. The unbelievable film "42" is about the path Jackie Robinson took to be the first male Africa American to play professional baseball. He had many troubles throughout the movie dealing with segregation. During the time period that the movie took place in, it was unheard of for African Americans to play on the same team as Americans. "Are you looking for a Negro who is afraid to fight back?" Robinson asked Rickey when they first met. "No," Rickey responded, "I want a player with enough guts not to fight back." That scene happens early on in the movie that should http://42movie.warnerbros.com Jackie Robinson wearing the #42 jersey walking out to his first game. the characteristics of the characters the actors and actress were portraying. The film did a perfect job catching and remaking memories come alive. The story of Jackie Robinson's life and baseball career is a story that shall remain to be immortal and always be a story powerful enough to move all types of people. A touching part of the movie was when Pee Wee Reese walked up to Jackie Robinson and put his arm around him and said, "Maybe tomorrow, we will all wear the number 42, so no one can tell us apart." Going into the movie I had high expectations, luckily for me, after watching the film all my expectations were met. The film was at its best early on, however it didn't have one Zachary Smith Staff Writer Nix is a nobody. This book puts a whole new perspective on being a so called nobody. More or less, the book says that nobodys exist because of their lack of energy and their inability to have an effect on other people. However, there are also people called the nulls. Now they are completely opposite of a nobody, they have too much energy and this causes them to leave a mark on people and be extremely and sometimes dangerously persuasive or important. Nulls also often times have no emotion whatsoever and basically do as they please. and his judgment of himself. However, throughout the book Nix becomes less hard on himself and starts to discover more about The Society. Claire realizes that there is more to being a nobody then just not being noticed. Claire also grows into her powers as a nobody. She uses her knowledge from a creative imagination to reason on why The Society sent Nix to kill her. "Nobody" is a fantastic book that most action readers will love. This book also contains an underlying love story that could pull Nix and Claire or push them apart. This book is well worth the read 'Revealers' is filled with mystery and crazy jaw dropping twists Witch Jules might have gone a little too far Ceighlee Fennel Staff Writer "Revealers" is a novel written by Amanda Marrone that is filled with mystery and crazy jaw-dropping twists. The main character is a teenage witch Jules. There are also many supporting character roles that seem like they could be in a main character role, but the story is told through a first person point of view from Jules. Most of the characters were wonderfully developed in some way whether they turned good or bad. Jules did not change a whole lot. However, it was really interesting and fun to see the different people develop throughout the story. The story is about these teenage girl witches who, when they turn 18, will be initiated into the inner coven. They go through a coming of age ceremony where the coven reveals all the shady secrets and mysteries. Although as the girls slowly turn 18, things get weird. The girls who are 18 get freaked out and Jules and the other girls who are not 18 yet have to uncover the clenching mysteries. Jules and her friends have to make life altering decisions to try to save their loved ones and themselves. After a slow start, the plot becomes interesting and I got hooked quickly. The story and plot moves faster http://ecx.images-amazon.com as things heat up. The author, Amanda Marrone, made this story different from the others because it wasn't just dealing with the magic teenagers and their tragic high school lives by combining magic, suspense, and action. She also threw in some love to add romance. The mystery factor was what really made this book for me. While I was reading, I definitely felt the characters' emotions, so the frustration and fears surrounding all the secrets and lies was intriguing and suspenseful. I was completely hooked by the thrill of trying to figure out all the shady mysterious information about the coven. The one other part of this book that left me reeling was all the twists. Half of the time, or even more, I did not even see them coming. The crazy twists added excitement in the novel. So, even though the book starts off slow, it is definitely worth it to keep reading. I recommend this novel to people who like magic and mysteries. Also people who want to be thrown off track, tricked, and interested by a book then they should give this book a try. Amanda Marrone wrote another novel called "Uninvited" but it is totally different. Witches... Who doesn't want to read about witches!
