1 The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, April 19, 2013 A/Otsego Manor B/Ace Glass Co. 2x3 New episodes of two Fieri series return to Food line-up TV Media W ith so many series on the go, it's easy to see how Guy Fieri has earned the reputation of being the "face" of Food Network. Tune in on any given day and you're likely to encounter a Fieri-helmed series at some point during the day. Back-toback airings of "Diners, DriveIns and Dives" have dominated the cabler's prime-time lineup on a few weekday nights (notably Mondays, Fridays and often Saturdays). And another series, "Guy's Big Bite," has a cushy spot in Food's daytime lineup on weekends. Fans will be glad to know that there are more new episodes premiering this week for both of these Food Network series. Guy Fieri hosts "Guy's Big Bite" Fieri takes center stage in his show "Guy's Big Bite," which kicked off Fieri's tenure at the Food Network in June 2006 following his victory on "The Next Food Network Star." The series often finds Fieri offering up his takes on countless recipes -- and Sunday's episode is no different. It's a Chinese food-themed episode as Fieri presents his version of childhood takeout Bookhout Funeral Home 2x2 favorites such as Mu Shu chicken and Chinese crepes with scallions, before washing it all down with a gardenfresh mojito. Then, a brand new season of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" (also known as "Triple D") kicks off the following day on Monday, April 22. This season is its 14th since its April 2007 premiere, which is an impressive stretch considering how popular the series remains with viewers -- in fact, it has consistently pulled in some of Food's largest male audience throughout its run. On Monday's episode, Fieri shines the spotlight on restaurants that have taken childhood favorites and brought them to a whole new gourmet level. Stops include an old-time bar in Denver, Colo., which makes homemade tater tots, pork rinds and an impressive pastrami sandwich. And in Tacoma, Wash., Fieri is intrigued by a neighborhood joint that's been serving up pork shoulder tacos, elk sliders and parmesan cheese-stuffed tater tots. While this season promises to dig up more of the country's finest hidden treasures for dining out, Fieri's ongoing road trip will also feature a few stops north of the border. Next week's episode will follow one such stop in Toronto, as Fieri scopes out a smokehouse that kicks it up a notch while serving up some fried chicken, burgers and a unique BLT.
