Dixon Blvd., Shelby For More Information Call 704-482-0302 The largest open bull riding competition east of the Mississippi will be taking place Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13th at Granny Mountain Farms. This will be the fourth year Boiling Springs Bull Riding will be held at Granny Mountain Farm���s arena, located at 2140 Ledbetter Road in the Boiling Springs community. The event is the creation of Shannon Ledbetter, a man who loves the sport and rode bulls for twelve years (1985 to 1997). At just 21 years of age he was ranked one of the top 15 bull riders in the world. Shannon said ���I hope the public will enjoy it as much as I do.��� When he was 15 years old, Shannon got a rodeo scholarship to Fort Scott Community College in Kansas and join their team. The Fort Scott Greyhounds is the oldest community college in Kansas, having been founded in 1919. True to its��� midwestern roots, the college has eight athletic teams, one of which is rodeo and highlights bull riding. Shannon won many junior rodeos and was two-time Mid-Atlantic Rodeo Association Champion Bull Rider, in 1988 and 1993. He also qualified for the International Finals Rodeo. In 1993, in addition to being the MARA Champion Bull Rider, he was a finalist in the PRCA Great Lakes Circuit. First prize is $3000 at this year���s Boiling Springs Bull Riding competition and will feature some of the top bull riders in the world from Texas, Continued On Page 12 By M. A. The pageant was an official Outstanding Little Miss preliminary competition for Cleveland and Lincoln counties. The winners were Baby Miss Lincoln County Ava Rudisill, Miniature Miss Cleveland County Kinsley Jordan, Tiny Miss Cleveland County Bella McCants, Tiny Miss Lincoln County Natalie Damon, Young Miss Cleveland County Kylee Perry, Young Miss Lincoln County Kendall Moore, and Teen Miss Cleveland County Erica Carpenter. The overall winners were Mini-Majestic Miss Cleveland-Lincoln County Cheyenne Warlick and Majestic Miss ClevelandLincoln County BreAnn Jenkins. The runners-up were Mary Grace Mullinix, Autumn Beard and Alexis Clemmer. The signatures award winners were Natalie Damon, BreAnn Jenkins, Alexis Clemmer and Erica Carpenter. Cheyenne Warlick and Kylee Perry were the overall signatures award winners and the people���s choice overall photogenic award winners. The Miss Gastonia Scholarship Association sponsored the pageant, which raised money for the Miss Gastonia scholarship fund. The winners will have an opportunity to represent the area in the North Carolina Outstanding Little Miss Pageant this September. YOU are invited to LITTLE MISS CLEVELAND-LINCOLN WINNERS 2013 The winners and runners-up in the Outstanding Little Miss Cleveland-Lincoln County Pageant held March 16 in Shelby were Cheyenne Warlick, Mary Grace Mullinix, Bella McCants (front row), Natalie Damon, Kendall Moore, Alexis Clemmer, Autumn Beard, Kylee Perry, BreAnn Jenkins (second row), Ava Rudisill, Kinsley Jordan, Miss Gastonia Tiffany Payne, Miss Gastonia���s Outstanding Teen Emily Miner, Erica Carpenter, Miss Gaston County Hannah Webb (back row).
