Munoz Clarison Duque Governor JB Pritzker appointed Jose M. Muñoz and Clarisol Duque to the Illinois Hispanic Employment Plan Advisory Board. The State Hispanic Employment Plan is designed to provide increased access to state employ- ment for Hispanics and Bilingual/Spanish employees and will help to build a governmental work- force that more accurately reects the diversity of our great state. Last September Muñoz, VP of External Affairs and CMO of Casa Central, was appointed by Mayor Lori Lightfoot as a Commis- sioner of the Chicago Park District. He was selected to ll a vacant seat previously occupied by Jessy Ruiz. Clarisol Duque is the Chicago Chief of Staff at Ofce of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin. Commissioner Maria S. Bocanegra The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commission- ers (NARUC) in San Antonio, Texas, NARUC Past President Nick Wagner appointed Illinois Commerce Commissioner Maria S. Bocanegra as Co-Vice Chair of the Committee on Water. "I am looking forward to the excitement and enthusiasm Commissioner Bocanegra will bring to the water committee," said NARUC Past President Nick Wagner Wagner. "The committee has a crucial role in educating our members and others on the importance water plays in our lives and the leadership team of the committee, as well as the members, will be well-served by her addition." The NARUC Committee on Water aims to increase aware- ness and understanding of the issues surrounding uses and reuses of water and wastewa- ter. Through policy resolutions, panel discussions and par- ticipation in high-level events, the committee works closely with several agencies and stakeholder groups, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Associa- tion of Water Companies and the Association of State Drink- ing Water Administrators. Bocanegra was appointed to the ICC by Governor JB Pritzker in April to a four-year term and conrmed by the Illi- nois Senate in May. An accom- plished and well-respected attorney, she has prior public service experience in both Democratic and Republican administrations. She previ- ously served as Arbitrator at the Illinois Workers' Compen- sation Commission and held the Public Seat on the Labor Advisory Board for the Illinois Department of Labor. She also formerly worked as an attorney with Katz Friedman, where she handled workers' compensation and personal injury claims. United's Oscar Munoz to step down as CEO United Airlines announced that Oscar Muñoz, Chief Execu- tive Ofcer, will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of United Air- lines Holdings, Inc. in May 2020. As CEO, Muµñoz has transformed United's culture and set new stan- dards of operational and nancial performance. J. Scott Kirby, Presi- dent, will succeed Munoz as Chief Executive Ofcer. "With United in a stronger posi- tion than ever, now is the right time to begin the process of pass- ing the baton to a new leader," Munoz said. "One of my goals as CEO was to put in place a suc- cessful leadership transition for United Airlines. I brought Scott to United three years ago, and I am condent that there is no one in the world better equipped to lead United to even greater heights. It has been the honor of my career to lead the 95,000 dedicated professionals who serve United's customers every day. I look for- ward to continuing to work closely with Scott in the months ahead and supporting the company's ongoing success in my new role." Muñoz was part of Negocios Now's list "Who's Who in Hispanic Chicago".
