Bio: The son of a Venezue-
lan mother and a Japanese
father, Watanabe has always
had an appreciation for the
value of diversity. After gra-
duating from Brooks School
in New England, he went on
to graduate from the College
of the Holy Cross where he be-
came an active member and
board member of the diver-
sity network. Today, he is an
active member of the Bishop
Healy Committee, which aims
to support underrepresented
students pursuing an educa-
tion at Holy Cross. In 2018,
he received the HCAA Young
Alumni Leadership Award
acknowledging his outstan-
ding service to the Holy Cross
community.
After graduating from co-
llege, Watanabe began his ca-
reer in financial services. He
is particularly sensitive to the
nuances that various cultures
have about planning for the
future. He is now a managing
partner of Opus Private Client
LLC in New York, where a sig-
nificant portion of his client
base is in the Latinx commu-
nity. His expertise is in asset
protection, wealth accumula-
tion, and wealth distribution.
His knowledge and rich expe-
rience in the finance industry
earned him the President's
Council Award in 2018.
His contributions to the
Latinx business community
have been recognized natio-
nally. He was voted one of El
Mundo magazines's 30 Under
30 in 2016. He is also a former
board member of the New
York chapter of the Associa-
tion of Latino Professionals
for America, and he remains
an active corporate liaison to
advance the success of Latinx
professionals. Most recently,
he presented wealth mana-
gement strategies specific to
the Latinx community at this
year's ALPFA National Con-
vention in Nashville.
He and his wife are re-
sidents of Westchester. He
spends his free time playing
basketball, golf, and cheering
for his favorite sports teams,
the Boston Celtics, Boston
Red Sox, and the Miami Dol-
phins.
